That emoticon because I'm surprised to see you here. This thread is for you, all the other posters, to come to and challenge me in any way at any given time. I, Melonius Thunk, am inviting anyone and everyone to challenge any given statement that I make or have made before. I felt it was appropriate to have a separate board for such subject matter since I sometimes start other topics that stray from the subject at hand(more important subjects, ya know ;D). The 50 Greatest Singles of Rock board is a good example. I promise to read all responses and to give consideration to all things said, even if only for a moment . Due to the fact that people are giving me hell, as I asked for, I have found it impossible to be 100% nice and kind in response to every post. Reserving the most civility I have in me on subjects I'm obviously very passionate about has proven to be a struggle that I can no longer wrestle with. Here people are going to give me hell more than any other place and I can't spar with them without being angry once in a while? Can't see it. Anyhoo, I'll be changing the name of this forum soon, but you're all still invited to continue to "Give Melon Hell", if you so choose. So, that being said: LET'S GET IT ON!!! ;D

The Bible is clear — Hell is inside the earth!Ephesians 4:9, says of Jesus: "Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the LOWER PARTS OF THE EARTH." On page 85 of Beyond Death’s Door, Dr. Rawlings writes patients who described hell said, ". . . this place seems to be UNDERGROUND or WITHIN THE EARTH in some way." Scientist and Bible teacher, Henry Morris also agrees the Bible plainly teaches that hell is in this earth: "So far as we can tell from Scripture, the present hell, is somewhere in the heart of the earth itself. It is also called 'the pit' (Isa. 14:9, 15: Ezek. 32:18-21) and 'the abyss' (Rev. 9:2). . . The writers certainly themselves believed hell to be real and geographically 'beneath' the earth's surface. . . To say this is not scientific is to assume science knows much more about the earth's interior than is actually the case. The great 'pit' [hell] would only need to be about 100 miles or less in diameter to contain, with much room to spare, all the forty billion or so people who have ever lived, assuming their 'spiritual' bodies are the same size as their physical bodies."(Henry M. Morris, The Bible Has the Answer, p. 220)

this reminds me of that email forward that goes around, about the physics student who wrote the thermodynamic analysis of hell on his exam paper.

Wow, cool. Phil. My first test. Lemme ask you, Phil. Do you hate my guts, dude? You used to ignore me completely because of my beliefs. Now it seems you either hate my guts or either laugh hysterically at me. It's most likely the latter rather than the former, but either way, it really doesn't bother me. Just let me know, dude. Do you?

because your perceived arrogance makes you a target. why don't you admit that you're a decent guy underneath, without all the need to overemphasize it with claims to divine providence? it just collapses debate and turns goodwill into shreds.

Dern, maarts. Phil got to me immediately, didn't he? Man. I see that right from the getgo here I seemed possibly hostile. I was slighty shocked. Honestly, I've been wanting Phil to cut out his comedic brand of mockery and just speak bluntly and honestly with me, without sarcasm or jokes, just once. In a sense I wish he's quit beating around the bush, and just be mean and/or rude if that's what's necessary to tell what he really feels about me. That's all. Gotta go.

I think you just gave your own answer to the question you stated in the first post.
If you want to ask Phil what he thinks of you, honest and direct, just (politely) ask him so.
The only thing I can say is that regardless what your views are on certain subject, be aware how people can interpret them when you post them. In my view that is the only reason you got into trouble- not because you have them but how you word them.

N.B. : Post written before Maarts and Melon exchange ... Dude This is indeed your first test … The Internet is a great source for information as long as you already have a variety of "knowledge" and an open mind … So after reading your opening statement, I just googled the word « hell » and started reading … When I stumbled upon that site I linked, I thought at first it was a joke so I scrolled all the way down to make sure it wasn’t a prank then I got back to the top and read the whole thing … Carefully !! I’m giving you that description of Hell … Is it accurate ? What is your own take on Hell … ?? For the record … I don’t hate your guts, dude Hate is such a strong negative emotion, I don’t think I’ve ever hated anyone in my life … Doesn’t mean I’ve never reacted strongly to people who I thought were intolerant, ignorant or plain mean… But hate … ?? Naaahhh ! I wish you no harm and it would bring me no joy to see you hurt in any way. On the other hand, I do wish I could simply dismiss your homophobic discourse, laugh it away and blame it on ignorance and or fear but I know too many gays, just decent, moral people who are truly hurt by the intolerance, the negative attitude and judgment directed by people like you toward all homosexuals just because of their nature, simply who they are … Finaly, it is very telling that you ended your post saying that « either way, it really doesn’t bother me(you) » because it is pretty obvious that no matter what people say to you , all you want is an occasion, a gallery to put forth your ultra-conservative, political and religious ideologies … ... Which is why I try to ignore your discourse as much as I can but I must acknowledge it is not always easy ...

I'm not here to give melon hell or really for anything melon-related. Did want to respond to this, though, and I suppose this is as good a place as any... 220) This Henry Morris guy sounds like a moron. The quote from Ephesians DOES NOT explicitly state that Jesus descended into hell... Firrst let's look at the verse in the context of the passage of Scripture (and in a more reliable modern translation): But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. This is why it says: "When he ascended on high, he led captives in his train and gave gifts to men." (What does "he ascended" mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions? He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.)--Ephesians 4:7-10 From my NIV Study Bible notes: Although Paul quoted the Psalm to introduce the idea of the "gifts to men", he takes the opportunity to remind his readers of Christ's coming to earth (his incarnation) and his subsequent resurrection and ascension. This passage probably does not teach, as some think and as some translations suggest, that Christ descended into hell. As for the instances you've cited in Isaiah, Ezekial and Revelation...I think it must be understood that all three of these books are PROPHETIC in nature, and extremely rich in symbolism. It really doesn't matter WHERE the writers believed hell was located. That they believed it was REAL is the key...no matter, there is no reason to assume that the Bible teaches that hell exists in the center of the earth, just as it doesn't teach that heaven is located in the sky (only the most literal minded would fail to note any symbolism in the Scripture in regards to both heaven AND hell). Once again, this Morris guy...looks like a quack from here. Yeah, the Bible has the answer, but he seems to have missed it. Where do you come up with this shit, Phil?

I agree with you, Phil, that "The Internet is a great source for information as long as you already have a variety of "knowledge" and an open mind"...although the "already have knowledge" is much more crucial than the "open mind" bit...The internet is also a great source for disinformation as well as opinions masquerading as facts. That is what you've stumbled upon in your "hell-googling" when you landed on this Frank Morris quack.
Melon, this board is founded on a bit of self-absorption, don't you think?

Indeed Melon. Just like Rocky said. Nothing but love. If I met you man I would give you a great big hug. Maybe even buy you a beer.
That said, You have insulted the majority of the people here in their beliefs. Telling everyone their ripe for satan's lair or what have you. Then you start your own board? TO GIVE YOU HELL? To me thats pretty evil and vain. And here I am, wasting my time on it! Thats sin in and of itself is it not? Some people dont live by the Fox News network or the 700 Club or any type of media hype at all. To live and die by television? By some other mortal man's belief? Check out the old testament bro. Really read it. And then IMAGINE all the stuff that was left OUT! Its pretty mind blowing. You wouldnt be posting here if you did. I had a discussion with my father in law (the most religious man I know--big time--we get along fine by the way) and he showed me some crazy stuff that I really could not believe....BUT i DO-almost...And its all in the edited version of the Bible people call on today.
If you want to lead a pious life, quit being such an attention seeking bastard. Your controversy is against everything you are supposed to believe in my friend. It does not make sense. get real with yourself.
