Wow, lots of icons have passed on since the last post here. For me, the loss of Tom Petty hit hardest. If you liked him and his music (or just want a great read about life in the music business), check out the Petty biography written by Warren Zanes (formerly of the Del Fuegos).
As for the very recent past, RIP to the wonderful singer-songwriter John Prine, who I had the pleasure of seeing live at Merlefest back in the 2000s. Hard to imagine that as a young man he came up with songs as poignant and reflective as Hello in There, Sam Stone, and Paradise.

Quite a few musical heroes passed away since that time...Bowie and Edgar Froese were the ones that were the worst ones to take.
Little Richard most recently is another Hall of Fame-artist gone....
