Seriously. You're the first person I know of who didn't think it was one of the worst albums they've ever heard.

Haven't heard that Parker ... but the Weller is aces! I'm pretty blah about Weezer, so can't comment on that at all ... and have never heard a note from Lagwagon or No Use For a Name.

Different strokes for different folks. The Weezer record is excellent. Perhaps 2 clunkers on it, but 10 songs that rate from good to fantastic. Perfect Situation, The Damage In Your Heart, Peace, The Other Way are among the best songs they have ever done.
It's better than the "Blue" album and ranks just behind Pinkerton and "Green" IMO.

Weezer was never that great to begin with.

The first two Weezer albums were great. The next two indicated a drop off, and this one...oh man, the new one is horrible.

I don't think any of Weezer's albums are horrible, the first two are the only two that approach greatness though. We Are All On Drugs is terrible and so is Beverly Hills...I do think Make Believe is better then Maldroit...

The Life Pursuit, by Belle & Sebastian, doesn't drop till next year (I think). But it is a great listen.

Like I said, I was never crazy about Weezer, but were I to make a list of 50 favorite albums, Pinkerton would make that list.

Lagwagon = my favorite American rock group of the past 15 years. No one even comes close for me.
These guys are the guitar group I always wanted to find but never did until I was 43 years old in 2003. Now I have everything they have ever put out (9 cds) and they amaze me with a sound I love, and amazing consistancy.
Perhaps not for everyone, but if you are at all interested, try the following songs as a quick sample; Lullaby Tomorrow Is Heartbreak Billionaire Baggage May 16 Train
To stay on topic, Lagwagon released a new cd 2 months ago. It's titled Resolve, it is excellent as usual. It was written almost entirely for a former band memeber who committed suicide in May 2005, so in addition to the dynamic sound they have always had, the lyrics have great emotion and meaning.
Lagwagon rant over......most of you won't get it.....but I just listened to Lullaby and Billionaire back to back and I think anyone who gives those tunes a few spins will come away mightily impressed.

OK then...you'll find no Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand, Bravery, White Stripes, U2, Wolf Parade, Architecture In Helsinki, Sufjan Stevens, System Of A Down...yeah these and all those other critically acclaimed hyped up let downs don't quite cut it with me... so this year, being a chronic Xenophobe here are 10 CDs better than any of those...
1. The Sproutts...Flying Out Of The Washing Machine 2. Toy Love...Cuts (OK its a 1979/80 reissue, but fuck it's good) 3. Pluto...Pipeline Under The Ocean 4. Dangerpin...In Albumen 5. The Mint Chicks...F**k The Glden Youth 6. The Shocking Pinks....Infinity Land 7. Ghost Club...Suicide Train 8. The Shocking Pinks...Mathemetical Warfare 9. The Checks...What You Heard 10. Dave Yetton...Blow Out Your Candles
close, but not quite.....
The Sneaks...You All Suck
piss poor
Gramsci...Like Stray Voltage Elemeno P...Trouble In Paradise
yeah so thats it from way down under...I heard a heap this year, and in the main I didn't like it...locally it was great though, so hey I'm smiling.....

Weezer made such a huge fall from grace. Those first two albums were perfect, the next two albums had me living in denial, and now I realize that Pinkerton was the last great thing they did. It's hard to let your favorite band just die on you like that. I still own three Weezer shirts, man, all from the seventh and eighth grade.
That "Perfect Situation" song seems okay, but it sounds EXACTLY like that one song off of Green. I'd look up which one, but really, I don't have the energy to ever dig up that album again.
