Lightning Bolt- Hypermagic Mountain

An Art Project gone horribly wrong,but it's for our pleasure.
Do they want to be Sonic Youth with experimental noise compositions?
Not Really
Do They Think Stoners will dig it's way-out inaudible vocals?
Possably
Are the 2 Brians basically the loudest maniacs outside of Death Metal?
Yes and that's why as long as you don't have a migraine you'll enjoy how they paint with a broken handle on the brush due to the tension they apply.

Standout-Birdy- The fuzz leading to the break seals it although I have to admit I had to look up song titles since they don't really matter in this case

The Clientele- Strange Geometry

I saw these guys open for Spoon and got to meet them at an afterparty.
The story of how they wanted to make a Shoegazer album with George Martin Production impressed me.
Yet what they ended up doing instead was make my favorite album to take a nap to *that's not a shot*
Beatles production? Yes
Shoegazer? Not So Much think when Luna was in their Penthouse phase
That maybe why I enjoy this album so much on a slow rainy day.


Standout- When I Came Home From The Party- A Soothing treatment when you wake up from a late night

The Juan Maclean- Less Than Human

This is the album Daft Punk was trying to make earlier this year.
JM knows how to robot-dance, make that sneaky DFA style disco,
but what will suprise you is the atmosphere in the last 2 tracks he can build around simple chorus.
Not since Basemnt Jaxx Kish Kash has a dance album taken such a wide turn off the predictible course
If only they would have added more farm animal musical instruments would this become a classic.

Standout-Tito's Way the middle third transfixes your whole body to bounce like your a extra in a Nelly video

"Get on Your Feet,You Stupid Southeners,You Fuckin Hillbillies
This is of course the intro to "Clubfoot" live when I saw them open for Oasis this past fall
.No wonder it's Liam's favorite band
I hated this album to begin with, but it has grown on me more and more
I appreciate the Primal Scream influence,but it's the swager of a band who knows they can be unstopable
and the instrumentals are some of the best work on the album no matter how brief they are
Still they may have had the best remixes and didn't bother to put out another album

Standout-Reason Is TreasonDid anybody else notice how Kasabian has become the go-to band for sport intros on televison?

Damn I always seem to dig Female DJ's
I don't really no why
I mean sure we all can tell Annie's hot
but she can sure sing as well
"Chewing Gum" is a new version of Tom Tom Club Genius of Love
"Heartbeat" might be the one dance song every hard-ass has to admitt can get them a bit emotional afterward.
This a tremendous party mix if your the only fella out with girls, who have cute DJ female friends
I would know..

Standout-"Heartbeat" I stopped dead with what I was doing when I heard this,maybe one of the best dance-pop songs I have ever heard

Correct but in the "ubercool" pitchfork it was an Import in 2004, I think the singles were availabe but it's much likr the arguments on The Dears,Go Team,etc

Queens of The Stone Age- Lullabies To Paralyze

Nic finally left the band
Josh was going let his girlfriend Brody Dale of Distillers fame produce the album.
It was suppose to be an absolute abortion
It's not
Josh turned down the violence to make a sexier guitar solo filled album that screams to be played for night time intros into a dark room
It's thrilling to hear more Desert Sessions than Eagels of Death Metal.
This album takes more risks than anything and with the baddest drummer no one's talking about(Joey Castillo)
Queens ain't going nowhere anytime soon.

When Sam Pleads "all I want is everything" on Give In I'm right there with him.
Yeah it's _______ and _________
Still It's an easy spin on a Friday Night
and it will infect you if you let it

Standout- "The Ring Song" LOL sums up the single life with your married friends

Depeche Mode- Playing The Angel

It Sounds Like Depeche Mode for 2005
That alone should make you want this
Songs of Faith Gahan's lyrics + Ultra Production + Martin Gore's solo instrumental work this is what you get.
I would compare this comeback to The Cure's last year
Just focusing on the strenghts with a couple curves throw in to hold your attention if you think it's getting predictible.
So the only question left is who's gonna to be the 80's comeback next year?
a) a-ha
b) Human League
c) Erasure
d) Inxs oh wait....

Standout "John The Revelator" The most throbing baseline of the year set to that demanding Gahan chant of nothing ever goes my way

Well since The Shins didn't put out an album this will do
NME,MOJO please calm down yes it's good but it's no Kula Shaker.
It's pleasant sunshine and a few "MY god I miss her so much" singalongs.
It's a nice right before sleeping album
Don't buy the Mamas/Papas references just because their family though
It sounds Laid-back,solid effort fun to singalong just not worth the hype

Greg Dulli- Amber Headlights

Yeah I know another list another GD album
Sorry he's always a constant on these things
It's a lost album from 2001 so the only penality is it contains a few redone versions of Blackberry Belle
tracks in their infancy
Yet I'll put his b-sides against 70% of the other solo albums that came out this year.
And in case your wondering This is more Afgahn Whigs like than anything he's put out before.
You Know I'm really looking foward to the Mark Langean duo album next year

Standout-"Golden Boy" Dulli lets you know he's the song of god" and he's here to take care of you now

Yeah, they're horrible... and yet I can happily hum along to "Unconditional" and "Honest Mistake" even though it makes me feel dirty afterwards. I like Kasabian more - also irresistably catchy and similarly derivative, but the Madchester feel is just better.
