The Wolf Parade album sucks pretty hard, but "Modern World" is in my top five tracks of the year.

Kinda like when The Walkmen album sucked really hard, but "The Rat" was the song of the year.

Eh, while I stand by my love for The Walkman, but I can see why people hate them. I personally find it perplexing that so many people like "The Rat", which I find to be one of their worst songs.

I think the story of the artist is much more interesting than the music
"Hope There's Someone" is one of the most heartbreaking songs of not only the year but the decade
Can't argue with that
Just I guess I never really connected with the album as a whole though

Yes and I Had the Walkmen album #5 so there and The Rat was a definite contender for song of the year

God, I'm starting to question your sanity with the Bravery love sessions. Seriously! Those guys need to grow some grapes!

Just got back from Pitchfork and they voted Sufjan Stevens as the best record of the year. Dear GOD! While it's not a bad record by any means, it's not high on my list. I find it to be a bloated work leaning a little too much on the Jim O'Rourke/Sam Prekop side (yes, it is titled Illinois, but no Big Black or Shellac or actual rocking?! if you're going for little nods of tribute) and really some of it quite unnecessary.

Okay, just ran through it. To make lists that include Kelly Clarkson and Young Jeezy and still think you have any real sort of cred is a fucking laugh out loud joke. Another good album from a understated band
who never ever ever ever seems to recieve any notice outside of the UK.
Some people might be dissapointed it's not another lost broadcast.
Well then you missed out one word describes the sound of this treatment
LUSH
The bulk of the material just sweeps by with a few jumps into guitar anthems but for the most of the material
It's the best arranged and emotional record yet
A great sit by the window on a cold/rainy day album

Standout-"Walk In Fire" if anybody asks you what Doves sound like play them this.

M.I.A.-Arular


The Most CRUNK album of the year really
This spins and spits better the Entire South Rap Scene
There's a difference between lame bounce and call songs and Energetic sing-song rhymes
M.I.A. employs some of the same cadences and flows of these crap rappers who somehow have gained national attention for slinging the same shit NWA was talking about in 88.
ORGINALITY is what mainstream hip-hop is missing that MIA has.
It's not the best lyrical record you'll hear all year, so what
It's infectious and even a bit of a mystrey
Which means when **insert rapper**(EX. Paul Wall/Young Jeezy)
makes a shitty one single follow-up
You'll still come back and listen to Arular.

Standout-"Amazon" You'll swear your invited to an old tribe dance ritual as MIA pleads for someone to resuce her from captives

LCD Soundsystem-s/t

Either I threw too many parties this year or this album gets better all the time.
James Murphy spun at my birthday party(Ok one of 3 birthday Parties I had in November)
It was a Juan Mclean/LCD Soundsystem show on a Saturday Night.
It's offical I'm a huge fan of DFA productions
"Tribulations" is one of my favorite dance records of all time.
and Yes all the rage is Disc 2 Singles collected like an Ipod playlist
But upon further review Disc 1 is STRONGER than I give credit to.
And what's in my player right nowDFA Holiday 05 Remix Ep
Yeah I'm GUILTY of being a DFA fan so be it.
But how many house parties did you throw this year? ;D

Franz Ferdinand- You Could Have It So Much Better

Ok Will The Next Ramones please step foward!
I thought it was the Strokes but advance listen of the 3rd has changed that.
It could be Franz make the same album throw in a few chord changes,couple slow dance numbers
It's really fucking good
but I don't know why it hasn't grabbed me like the first album
It's a better album I know it is
BUT WHY IS IT #32
when I ws putting togther this list I kept going OK this album mattered/ment something to me
Further back it slid on the list
"The Fallen" is my favorite FF song so far(that and their cover of Air's "SEXY BOY")
I think the main reason is their are some outstanding steps foward("Walk Away"/"Elenor"
but too much of the album just blends into the same thing I guess.
I wanted to rank it higher but I can't
But again It's still pretty fucking good.


Standout-"The Fallen" The limo has crashed and a fire is burning as we dance on the roof and we could care less

Welcome to the GREAT Albums portions of the list better than just good.
Fiona, honey you gotta quit writting songs about guys like me.
You know the protagonist who you can't get out of your head("Get Him Back")
The one about breaking the window rather than hurting me when you caught me with another woman or yourself even though we were never commited to one person("Window")
I'm not sorry for kissing you with my eyes open when you didn't trust me("Parting Ways")
I'm glad you have to blend up your self-confindence("Extraordinary Machine"/"Better Version Of Me")
I appreciate the poetry you write, but someday maybe you'll learn to understand how to say what you really want from me.
Then maybe I'll consider a serious relationship when I'm ready.
Till then keep your head and keep singing songs like these.

I knew I wouldn't be able to recall my 2005 purchases (slim though they were).but Patten reminded me of one I loved...and that is the Doves.......that and the Final Broadcast are two great releases.........why aren't they as big as Coldplay?
