Also, Phil, that Coltrane/Monk record is one of my favorites. I listen to that constantly and it's one of my favorites in the jazz genre. Also, good call on the Dylan and Feist. Those are incredible records and thank god someone else has heard of Amadou and Miriam, that is especially good.

I consider myself fairly wideranging in my tastes for jazz piano, but the one Brad Mehldau I've got is barely listenable to me...tho I sure have not heard that new one that Phil listed.
The guy is always well-reviewed, but damn, his discs go right past me....reminds me of having seen the incredible Jason Moran do a duet show with Von Freeman, very straight ahead hard bop blowing with VERY energetic 80 year old tenor legend which was simply off-the-charts wonderful, so I started buying some of his studio discs. Again extremely well-reviewed, but fuck if I could get into them...I've now got 4 MOran discs and have repeated listening to maybe one of this set.

I think he's one of those that is incredible live, but not so hot in the studio. Some of his studio stuff has kind of left me not satisfied, but not blown away either.

I just got back from doing my chores going to Home Depot...with a sidetrip to one of my libraries, and grabbed Mehldau's 'Art Of The Trio 4: Back At The Vanguard', done at the Village Vanguard in 1999...so here we go, a live date.
Though I think I've had this one before...Larry Grenadier on bass and Jorge Rossy on drums...

Yay for Ladytron!
That self titled Clor record is also a keeper. Really good, I'm waiting to get the import vinyl on that one.

God, I'm starting to question your sanity with the Bravery love sessions. Seriously! Those guys need to grow some grapes! Just got back from Pitchfork and they voted Sufjan Stevens as the best record of the year. Dear GOD! While it's not a bad record by any means, it's not high on my list. I find it to be a bloated work leaning a little too much on the Jim O'Rourke/Sam Prekop side (yes, it is titled Illinois, but no Big Black or Shellac or actual rocking?! if you're going for little nods of tribute) and really some of it quite unnecessary. The Bravery Reference was Sarcasm Come On However due to PEER Pressure I went to search out my burnt copy of I am A Bird Now. I Couldn't Find It So I bought It and LISTENED TO IT ALL NIGHT(Well except for the 2 hr Nip/Tuck Finale) So Yeah Maybe I never gave it a chance after all Much like Andrew Bird earlier this year So I Gracefully Take Back The Statement "It's Ok" instead It will make your stomach turn inside-out and you'll feel like a better person afterward Fantatsic Artwork inside as well So I've changed my mind/sue me

Yeah, the Antony really is quite superb. My only problem with it is that I'm never in the mood to listen to it, and I don't feel like I've given it enough attention to rate it too highly... if that makes any sense. The two or three times that I've gone through it I've been pretty impressed, though.
Yeah, the Ladytron is pretty nice, though I think it tails a bit at the end. I really really like the Clor album, the first half in particular. I went through a 4 week stretch this year where I listened to at least the first half of it once a day. It's a fun, quirky little album, definitely.

Okay, just ran through it. To make lists that include Kelly Clarkson and Young Jeezy and still think you have any real sort of cred is a fucking laugh out loud joke. The bullies should have been a little rougher on those guys back in grade school. Maybe they'd be a little more reclusive, and not as comfortable in their blatant, all-out poseur-ism. DAMN IT YOU LEAVE KELLY ALONE Blender gave her woman of the year so It's gotta be COOL ***BETS ALL TOP 40 COUNTDOWN SONGS OF YEAR END WITH "SINCE YOU BEEN GONE" AT #1 **** In All Seriousness I think their love Of Camron was the funniest thing on their list Is anybody else besides Pitchfork that high on Art Brut? POP MATTERS list so far has been the best Rolling Stones #2 in Rolling Stone MAG not since the 5 star review of Mick Jagger's Godess In The Doorwayhave I laughed so hard/does he pay them off or something Everybody Getting High/HIGH/HIGH/HIGH/HIGHNP- Kelly Clarkson "Since You Been Gone" Dance Remix

I like Art Brut and all, but they're not THAT great, certainly not worthy of a place that high on the list. How anyone can give that album more than one spin every couple weeks and not be completely sick of it is beyond me. They're a novelty band.
The thing that gets on my nerves the most about Pitchfork is the way they try to be one collective entity and not a group of critics. If one critic gives something a good or bad review, everyone else on the site is expected to act and think the exact same way.
And Camron, man, that guy fucking sucks as bad as his pink Hummer. What a fag.
BTW, I wouldn't know Kelly Clarkson from some drunk random chick bar hopping downtown. I have no clue who she is, only that I've seen her on the TV Guide channel, so she apparently sucks.
