Rocky that full Loose Fur album is out if you're interested.
Every single "06 release" that I've heard so far is underwhelming. I guess my favorite so far is The Life Pursuit, but I don't even find it to be that great or anything.
Blah.

yikes. that's saying something when the best hope appears to be a Belle and Sebastian record.
i don't buy it though. the Liars was kickass. It's just a bit too experiemental.

Rocky that full Loose Fur album is out if you're interested. Oh, I'm well aware that the whole thing has leaked already. But I've found that in the past, when I've downloaded a whole album ahead of time, it's kind of taken the fun out of it's release. So the only track I've listened to as of now is the one that I heard Tweedy do solo when I saw him in November. I'm gonna be strong and wait for the real release for the rest of it.

Oh.....well, if it's a band that I really like, I usually refrain from downloading much. I like to be surprised like Rocky said. I would like to say thanks for Rocky for posting the preview of the new Loose Fur record. I have to say that it sounds very Lovin' Spoonful and a lot more sixtiesish than I was expecting. The one thing that has been perplexing me though is that since "A Ghost Is Born" is it me, or does Jeff Tweedy sing in a higher register now? His voice has seemed different here lately.

Stuff I've Liked in 2006 so far
-The Strokes Improved Live Show in a small 300 person venue the energy in theses so-called lazy new songs captured every single fiber of my attention espically "fear of sleep"/"on the other side" and WOW they actually enjoyed playing and hung with their fans for about 2 hrs afterward.
First Impressions of Earth- I think it's the first Strokes album you listen to and find something new in production or arrangement each time, really I've played it alot and barely remember song titles when I put it on random
-Amusemnt Parks on Fire BlackOut Ep- I am so into this music right now the debut last year was one of my favorites now add a few strings and I'll claim this is the best shoegazer music in the world now It just Grabs You I'm really impressed
-The Flaming Lips- "The Wand" single- Can't Wait for the album after hearing this easily the coolest song I've heard on commercial radio in a while Sounds like nothing else on Yoshmi or Soft Bulletin. It has a brand new direction feel to it.
-We Are Scientists- the debut is much more fun than the last Franz Ferdinand and this is the best COMPLETE album since The Futureheads followed the Gang of Four blueprint
KILL THE DJ MIX- A weird mixtape of post-punk/alternative clasics turned into obnoxious awful tec-ho music who thought "She Sells Sanctuary" by the Cult would become a house music abortion. Really this thing is killing me I'm laughing just thinking about it.
Upcoming
-Hold Steady Live FEB 4(that is if the Steelers don't make the Super Bowl I'll be in Detroit If they win) -BRMC live I'm there every show they play in Atlanta -Fiery Furnaces- Live Look foward to it,first time seeing them -Arctic Monkeys debut- I really enjoy the 2 songs I've heard -OUTKAST- I never get sick of my local genuises

Ah.....he quit smoking! That would certainly explain it actually. I think he should take up smoking again.

I can't believe that you like We Are Scientists, patton. Those guys and that awful band Morningwood need to book a private plane and then hopefully somewhere along the way history will repeat itself.

His voice actually changed a little bit before A Ghost Is Born, due to surgery he had on his sinuses to relieve migraines. But yeah, I think quitting smoking has had an effect also.
Glad you enjoyed the track, Skvor. Definately not as prog rock as they'd been letting on, but it's just one track--maybe the rest will be more in that vain.

I've had an advance copy of the Morningwoo debut since Oct last year and have not been impressed outside 2 or 3 songs. We Are Scientists are a funny bunch of nerds who have the whole dance-funk music down I like the stupidity of the album, the same way I enjoy the new DARKNESS skv YOU WOULD DIE if you heard Kill The DJ mix Sisters of Mercy were never ment to sound like Ace of Base

IF they are mixing Ace of Bass with the Sisters of Mercy, then that CD needs to be destroyed right now. I like mash-ups as much as the next guy, but that is ridiculous.

I just read that Mike Patton's Peeping Tom project is back on schedule. It's on Ipecac now. Guests include Dan The Automator, Bjork, Kool Keith and Massive Attack...how could this not be one of the best albums this year?
