Well, if Canada is in then at least whack Klaatu in there. Gives me something to vote for in that bracket. And fuck INXS! Rather have Icehouse, Divinyls, Midnight Oil, Big Audio Dynamite, Black Sorrows, The Saints, Radio Birdman, The Church, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Wolfmother, Powderfinger, AC/DC, Silverchair,, The Go-Betweens, Celibate Rifles and Hoodoo Gurus....

I'm pretty sure that this is only for bands that are still active. I'm pretty sure at least some of those are broken up, right? The Divinyls? Come on!

I have no idea what you're on about. Brackets? NCAA? Rock field? But I want to exercise my right to vote in any case.
So yeah, I'm in.

I'm in. I like threads that have anything to do with bands other than VU, Beatles, Stones et al. I'm really bored to tears with the discussions we have about all those old bands. This sounds cool, although I'm still not sure on the mechanics.

I'm just not sure how much more we can talk about these same old bands who are dead, defunct, or still together but shitty.

I'm just not sure how much more we can talk about these same old bands who are dead, defunct, or still together but shitty. I can talk about them until I'm blue in the face. Until I hear music on the same level, the standard that was set 40 years ago, I'll keep listening to and talking about the greats. Sure many bands have come since like the Clash, Wilco and Pearl Jam, but those bands are out of this tournament as well. IMO Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys, the Killers, etc...all have a similar formula, and none of it remotely comes close to the rockers of the 60's. I like all those bands alright, less the Killers, but I don't love them. To me, it's like good back ground music at a party/bar, but nothing I'm gonna sit down and study like I do w/ the Kinks or Beatles. Even w/ the influx of all the the bands a few years ago, when Rock was supposed to make its return, I found most of them to be dull, and a simple rehash of everything thats already been done *coughs* The Strokes. I do like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club though. I only have their first album, but I've heard bits and peices from the last two and liked what I heard. Hopefully I can catch them live next time they are in my neck of the woods. Hell, even the rap I like doens't count in this tournament, except J5.
