I like the Pixies a lot. But they don't have a single album that compares favorably with S&L and CRCR.
I'm just saying.

The Pixies are amazing.
Pavement is just a Fall cover band with some East Coast "indie schmindie" non-sense thrown in.

To say Pavement is a Fall cover band is like saying U2 is a Joy Division cover band. Wrong, in probably every possible way.

Don't get me wrong, I think Pavement were a good band. They just weren't as good as the Pixies. Because the Pixies were great. No other band of that era comes close other than Sonic Youth.

The Pixies were GREAT. Pavement was great.
The Pixies are right there with the Talking Heads and Radiohead. They're one of THE bands.
Pavement's a great little outfit, and I'll take solo Malkmus over solo Francis, but they're no Pixies.
Sonic Youth is right there with Pavement. That is, well below the Pixies but still awesome. Because it's okay to not be as good as the Pixies- just because you're not John Holmes doesn't mean you're not hung.
