Does anyone (besides Rit, bless his soul) actually listen to the VU for real though? Last time I checked they only get played when
a) you're at a stoner party & everyone got sick of Zeppelin & Floyd
b) you're at some uber-hip style bar & they play one VU song to show how 'with it' they are
c) as the backing music in fashion shows where the theme is 60s/mod/drug-elite
d) when your iPod is on shuffle & they're randomly played, completely out of your own control

One of the perks of listening to music that no one else listens to is that your favorite bands are spared from the mudslinging in threads like this.

and i don't care if ken holzman has betrayed me here, radiohead is STILL the most overrated band of the 90s... and the 2000s. i LIKE experimental music. the problem with kid a isn't at all that it's experimental. the problem is that it, well, sucks. i'm just getting started. Cheers, MI love people who hate on Kid A. That album and the one that followed were indeed, nonsense. If I wanted to hear bleeps and shit, I'd just listen to the guys who did it first (and brilliantly I might add), Kraftwerk. Radiohead are a fucking rock band. Or at least they were. As far as I'm concerned, they split up after OK Computer. the only problem with this theory is that ok computer also sucks big fat donkey balls  |

Michael Stipe needs some schooling in razzle-dazzzle from me. REM would flourish under my showy tutelage, esp once they all learn how to high-kick. it's true that any band would be improved by some well-placed high-kicks. do you hear me napalm death? haha. I shouldn't like Napalm Death, but I do. High-kicks or no high-kicks. I can't hate on Radiohead, b/c I like them too much, but I can take or leave Kid A. |

i admit i don't actually listen to VU all that often anymore, however any time i find them in a jukebox at a bar, i always play heroin 5 or 6 consecutive times right before i leave. it makes me snicker. because i've extremely mature and not at all bitchy.
