Exactly. There's no need to take an either/or approach with this. I think the problem is that we are discussing Pink Floyd and that there are way too many feelings attached to that band to take this anywhere.

I think you just became irrelevant, Kenny. Apparently. Guess I'll go give Wowee Zowee another spin, then. Zappa rules!

I see this thread has turned into a discussion about what is at the fundamental center of rockjism, and that being: What is quality in music. There are some simple answers to that question, and then there are some complex answers to that question.

Actually it's mostly just about antagonizing RocDoc. You know, for fun.

But if that's the case, RocDoc, we can just quit having these discussions about the merits of bands altogether. And that almost defeats the purpose of being a rock and roll nerd and having a rock and roll nerd board.
Well, that's sure not what I was after.
I mean, I also spoke of how interesting it was that I also ran into 8-9 people who remembered hearing (and being blown away by)that Hendrix broadcast in 1967.
And this wasn't like the next day, except for my one buddy who told me it was going to be on.
Years later, acquaintances who were music fans, discussing this thing that was significant to us (same as us here talking up the stuff we have in common, INclusively) which happened in '67, was something a music fan has to take delight in.
The irrelevancy, it hopefully is obvious, is only when our 'critical blindspots' poke us in the eye....or when you just go nuts for something and the rest here go 'Yawn'....
Gee...deja vu. That irrelevancy doesn't matter one bit, since YOU are still finding something that does get you off, Fuck everyone else, honestly. Regarding that one subject, that one band...but you're STILL going to learn from them. About OTHER bands.
Tho it's still great to stumble onto someone who shares a passion, for say, 18th century dodecaphony (!)...
But here you find that equivalent, but with LOTs of people who still may think your tastes are 'off'. But it's in no way earthshaking.
To my mind it's just Ken's sad loss that he never found the 'key' that unlocked him to everything 'Jimi'...

"What have we here, laddie? Mysterious scribblings? A secret code? No! Poems, no less! Poems, everybody! "Money get back / I'm all right, Jack / Keep your hands off my stack / New car / Caviar / Four star daydream / Think I'll buy me a football team" Absolute rubbish, laddie! Now get back to your work!" This was hilarious, T. Actually it's mostly just about antagonizing RocDoc. You know, for fun.Sedaka By-Law #1, quoted by a recent grad......

Pretty sure he was mocking your insistence that this was the case, rather than actually confirming it. And I think the Sedaka posters who either don't post over here at all or who can't be bothered to interact with you here would probably scoff at this too. Whatever. I haven't read this whole thread, but I've seen a lot of good points made that you've just written off because of who said them.

And that almost defeats the purpose of being a rock and roll nerd and having a rock and roll nerd board. What you need to do, kind sir, is hook up w/ Paul Edward Wagemann and pursue your love of rockjism w/him. Cuz that's what this is all about, when you get right down to it.

There are some simple answers to that question, and then there are some complex answers to that question. Seriously, shut up. Sometimes y'all surprise me. Here you have a person who is qualified to speak w/yourselves who are qualified about this thing called "rockjism", which you are all pretty learned about, I'd say. Y'all are "rockists" to the core, ded, kMc, shin, admit it ! And there's nothing wrong with that... ... but d'yall EVER turn the other cheek ? D'ya ever even think about it- ? Try it sometime. Ya might find future convos enriched because of it. Ya might make friends. *shrugs*
