Jenny Lewis was so overlooked this year. Best alt/rock/country/bluegrass/blue eyed soul/pop album this year.
Maybe that was the problem.

c'mon, you brushed your thumb across your keyboard there, din't ya? No Doc, it's true: He's a young Aboriginal artist, a singer/songwriter who sings in his native Yolngu-tongue (one of the many Aboriginal languages in this country) and is gifted with a honeyed soft voice. He is blind and has done stints in legendary Aboriginal bands the Saltwater Band and Yothu Yindi. Gurrumul is his debut and a fine one it is- back to a time when people like Nick Drake could wrap you in lovely acoustic strummings with ditto vocals, warmly enveloping you. Great album.
