I haven't spoken on the subject of Terri Schiavo either and by Chrisfan's standards that means I'm not allowed to say 'move on' but I just wholehartedly agreed with Rocky's post just there.
As for 'the end', we will never know whether you allowed her to suffer or allowed her to have peace. At least that's what she has now.
Sorry to hear the Pope's ailing badly too.

Fuck you Maarten, and the horse you rode in on. You know damn well (because I've said so more than once) that I do not believe that I have any sort of authority on saying who can and can't say things. I find it in poor taste. And if you all have to sit and pout when someone says somethingthat you don'tagree with, then go grow some fucking balls. BTW, the topic of Australia bores me, since i don't live there. So would you guys mind not talking about it anymore on Kat's board? See, I don't participate in the discussions there, but every now and then, I'd like to drop in and tell you guys what I don't like. IT'd be nice if you'd keep it all tidy and to my liking when I do.

Think about what you guys are doing here. You're basically saying "I don't think anyone should discuss this topic anymore, so here are my two cents". THE BEST WAY TO KEEP A DISCUSSION GOING IS TO PARTICIPATE IN IT.

As you stated, Chris, you don't have authority- don't assume that you do so when you adress Rocky in the way you did and dress him down. If you're emotional about this topic it's because you have let it become so. You need to toughen up, lady.
As for your Australia-comments, well, just goes to show that you don't really want to know about people and situations outside your own little circle. You're more than welcome to ask and learn but I guess you just are more preoccupied with other things. Fair enough. We haven't been hospitable in the past and we apologised when we weren't. You bring out the worst in everyone Chris in your posting style and I'm not the only one who has mentioned that. You have done so in the past and will do so in the future. That's why I don't visit certain boards where you post the most, I just don't want to get involved with you everywhere else but here.

How many times have discussions rambled on after someone suggested to move on or change the subject? We are all guilty of that.

Mr Affleck didn't think he was when he made Gigli either. I have trouble believing that even he didn't know that was a turd.

The Australia comment was dripping in sarcasm. I thought anyone would be able to figure that out.
Damn right I am emotional about this subject. I hope the day never comes that I fail to be emotional about death. If you, Rocky, or anyone else decides to be an asshole playing these pity party "Chrisfan says that I can'tsay this" crap games, then I will continue to respond to them. You don't want the reaction, don't be an asshole. I have not pretended to have the authority to dictate what anyone discusses anywhere. If my saying that over and over and voer again has not drilled it into your head by now, then there is probahbly no hope for you. Maybe this will help.
Maarten -- say whatever the hell you want.
Rocky - say whatever the hell you want too.
Shin - same with you.
DED, KMC, Pissin, etc etc etc ... every damn poster around here, say whatever the hell you want. I will do the same. When I think you're an asshole, I'll say so. When I think you're dead on right, I'll say that too. If you do't want a response, don't say it.

I'm fascinated by Australia & I've never been there. They got wombats! & purple-ringed octopi. Did you know an Ostrich can kill a Lion with one swift kick, chrisfan? That makes the Ostrich the King of the Jungle, by Jove! And what was God thinking when he created the Duckbilled Platypus? (Personally, I think He was rippin some Mad Bong Hits) Yeah, Australia is, decidedly, for tough folk. I can see how Chrisfan wouldn't be interested in that. But I'm going! I wanna drink some real Aussie Beer-! And if & when I go . . . I might be hard-pressed to ever come back. Sounds like an amazing bit of Pangea broke off, there. Lot of bizarre critters trapped on it. Methinks Australia needs me as much as I need to see it . . .

Since you cannot know this Chrisfan...I AM emotional about this case too. Because I've lived through the Terri Schiavo-drama myself with my grandma. My family nursed her till her death after a brain tumour was diagnosed...in the space of 10 months we saw her lapse from frailty into coma...and we have debated the idea of euthanasia with her doctors as well. And believe me, when I'm typing this and I see my grandma's eyes staring at me from a picture frame in the room, this is something I never wish on anyone. At least do me the courtesy to believe me that I do care.
It's not the reason I chimed in. I was thinking about posting something about the euthanasia-laws in Holland but they have changed a bit in the last few years and I didn't want to post something uninformed.
Chrisfan, you might have drilled things in our head, but you don't practice what you preach. Hence the results you sometimes get. Think before you post.

As far as Terri Schiavo I am of course not happy that she is dead, but I am happy that the courts upheld her husband's right to guardianship and that if those were Terri's true wishes, that they were carried out. And I am also happy that at least for now the Schindlers won't be demanding that elected officials get involved in personal matters like this again.
Liberals are not for a culture of death. I'm so sick of hearing that. I mean you could point out death on both sides of the aisle. Me, personally, I HATE death and I've never dealt with it very well but I sided with Michael in this case because I really felt it was his decision to make and not the Schindlers. Not because I wanted Terri Schiavo to die.
And I'm tired of this fucking religious right bull shit. I really think if it keeps up there's gonna be some kind of backlash. People will get sick of it really soon, and as many polls suggest Americans weren't happy with the government intervention here.

Kind of like how you lecture me about the way I address Rocky, and then do the same to me Maarts? See, it goes both ways. I'm not the one whining about the way people are treated around here. I'm also not the one whining about the topics being covered. Thorn, re the platypus ... it seems to me that the platypus is a result of the same thing that causes two absolutely beautiful people to have butt ugly children. You take the aspects of various animals that make them cool and unique, put them all into one animal. You'd THINK you would get the best and most unique animal, but instead, you get something wacky.

First, as the Hugh Hewitt piece i posted states, you're giong to have to define the religious right. You can't exaclty define it as people who thought it was wrong to let Terri die ... Jesse Jackson ain't the religious right! In order for there to be a backlash, there's got to be a fight against something more than a strawman.
