Well, Luke's never been known for his "reverence," and I've been guilty of taking him too seriously in the past. We all know what a feminist Mary is, and she seemed to take it as it was intended. If Amp hasn't seen many of Luke's posts before, I could understand his taking great exception to it (though that first post was a bit much, I think!)

So my post about Pukes "wife" is a bit much, but his total disregard for a dead high schooler is A okay? WTF? Come on people, think outside the boards. Why is it sooooo cool to rip on strangers in then news, yet you cant brinb a poster to task for being a complete asshole? Familiarty breeds lots o' things I suppose, but a free for all should not be one of them. Step up spineless ones, what he has started is NOT cool. If it was his "wife" that was killed, you think he would be sick of the coverage? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I think everyone would agree that it's tragic - I think Luke has even said as much. It seems like there's something about the case that you really relate to, Amp, perhaps even personally in some way, and that's fine. People always rip on strangers in the news! I mean, even things as mild as you might get from Leno can be pretty cruel and cause a lot of grief to people who are personally affected. I don't know, man.
Was it a full moon this weekend?

What I object to is the condescending, judgemental name-calling (ie. "asshole", "idiot punk", "lifelong fratboy infatuated with his own dick", "vile idiot") , which certainly goes against Paul's exhortation to hold others in higher esteem than oneself. There's no call for it, and this whole "I am a Christian, doesn't mean I'm perfect" is a cop-out and a lame excuse that I'm not buying. How hard is it to make a point without resorting to name-calling? Furthermore, how hard is it to go back and edit a post to remove it? I ought to know...just the other day I called Art a "doofus", but the Holy Spirit convicted me of it so hard and so fast that I went back and modified it, taking out the name, within 10 minutes...so I know the temptation to name-call. See, I'm not perfect, either, but you don't see me using that as an excuse to just do or say anthing I want. No, instead I repented and did what I could to correct the situation.
Amp, you can take this as personally as you want, but there's nothing "Christian" about the way you've slandered luke. It's not your place to worry about the drugs he's taken or the shenanigans he's described here and on the RS.com boards, and it's not your right to judge him for those things, as you do when you call him these names. Last I checked, luke was NOT a Christian, so he's not required to live by the same set of standards as you and I.
But perhaps I can put it in perspective for you, and at the same time possibly prove to you that I'm not trying to attack you here rather I am rebuking you.
I don't believe you were a Christian back in the RS.com days when the whole "secret board" brouhaha erupted...but I can never forget that you were the one who started the whole ball rolling by posting stuff from them...And one of the things YOU called me out for at the time was that I had just become a Christian and yet there I was saying nasty things about people behind their backs.
You know what? You were dead right to call me on that. I agonized over it for weeks, under the conviction of the Holy Spirit, and I have you to thank for holding that mirror up to my ugliness and sin...and who knows but that I might have said, "Hey I'm a Christian, but I'm not perfect" myself at the time. I know this: IF I said that, YOU DIDN'T BUY IT, and noone else did, either.
So here I am, a couple of years older and hopefully wiser...certainly more deeply in love with the Lord than ever before...and all I'm doing is calling for you to check yourself, because when you exhibit unChristian behaviour while insisting you ARE a Christian (albeit an "imperfect one) it makes us all look bad.
I realize you've not been a Christian for very long, and maybe I should have phrased my initial rebuke differently (who knows, maybe I should have just PMed you instead of doing it on the boards...I don't really know why I didn't other than that I've had some bad experiences via PM lately)...All I'm saying is that if you think it's okay to begin a post with "I am a Christian' referring to ytourself and end the same post with "He is an idiot punk" in reference to someone else, I daresay you really should be spending less time online at these boards and more time with your nose in a Bible. Because it is UNACCEPTABLE.
Period.
Take that in the spirit of love in which it's offered or get angry with me and ignore it.

Because the crux of luke's post had to do with the fact that this story had been over-riding more important REAL news. Luke made that point...hammer to nail. The point he made about her mother claiming her kids didn't know anything about Bacardi 151 being a load of bollocks, that she was naive if she thought they didn't...hammer to nail. The part about Halloway doing "everything you're not supposed to do, and off to do even more when disaster struck"...hammer to nail. But mostly, this: But every day, there are sensible, intelligent, innocent women who are raped and murdered. Women who deserve it a lot less than Natalee Holloway did. (Not that she deserved it, just saying that these women, in the scheme of things, were a lot more innocent.) But no, those women aren't the media's next target for a sympathetic human story, so they get washed right off the radar and nobody cares. It's pathetic, really, as are all these stories about people nobody really gives a fuck about in an attempt to make the news as exciting as CSI. With real drama, a whole cast of characters, plots, twists, and all this other garbage that doesn't actually exist in the real world, but which the media fucking loves to death. It's really sickening to see Natalee Holloway's mother babbling her moronic naivety while a little sentence streaming across the bottom of the screen tells us how many soldiers were blown up in Iraq today.HAMMER TO NAIL... Now, as far as I'm concerned, luke is pretty doggone good at expressing himself, but there's no way I would use some of the terms he used in that post, and yeah, some of it did seem a tad bit insensitive. SO WHAT? He's commenting on a public figure, just like when Amp pukes out his hate-filled diatribes about Tom "Fudge" Cruise. What's the difference? Luke, I don't doubt, has a heart of gold, but unlike amp, he has a thick skin. Sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes not. But as evidenced by the horrific tragedy of Natalee Holloway, life in this world REQUIRES a thick skin. |

Something happened in his up bringing where that is just a "cool" thing to say. I bet his mother is STILL tryjing to get an abortion, no matter how old he is. Gross pig with no decency, and thats the true hard core facts.
Mary and Jac - stick up for him all you want. The thread is disgusting and ANYONE who says differently is just an insensitive asshole, regardless of how many degrees.

Exactamondo - I am a Christian, doesn't mean I am perfect (you know that yourself Jac). The very thougt of creating a thread titled this is sickening, period. The End I dont know if he just wants the attention or what, but who complains about the TV having nothing but this on it and then he starts a thread about it. Not to even go into how insensitive it is. Obviously he doesnt know anybody who has has been murdered. He is an idiot punk. You'll excuse me for ignoring the "Exactamondo". |
