Certain words and certain phrasing can lead people to certain conclusions (jeez. How many times can I say certain?). I am not saying you are knowingly condescending, Chrisfan, but I know you have often been accused as being so. We can all do better here, if we indeed want to propagate some sort of genial decorum in this place. Yes Ken, I've often been accused of it ... by the same very small group of people. But that goes away from the point you were making before. Your earlier point was that people know they're guilty of your perceptions of them, but just deny it. You may have a perception of me, Roc Doc, or anyone else. That does not mean that you are perceiving things in the right way (if I insisted on reading all of Phil's posts as if he was screaming at the top of his lungs, then I'd hear screaming every time, whether he meant it or not). You're prescription for fixing things is for the people who are guilty of what you perceive as wrong to change it. Why is the solution on people like Roc Doc and me, and not on the people who appear to be perceiving the intent of posts incorrectly? |

Well, Im one of those in the very small group of people who think you can have a very condescending tone. :-) So count me in!
Really though, I dont participate in CE, because I dont like being bashed for my beliefs, and as much as people, not talking Chrisfan in general here so please dont take it that way, think that they DONT do it, they do. Thats why people tend to stay away. No one wants to be bashed for their beliefs or principals, but rather just discuss whats going on in the world without it turning into some huge political debate and a whos wrong and whos right senario.
Theres my two cents. I will now dissapear from CE because i know some things never change.

And all of that has, for the most part, driven me away from the boards for more than just saying hi to the few people who really make a difference in my life and I have grown to respect as my friends.

Can I just make this simple for everyone and declare that I"m not changing my tone, so we don't need to have some lame ass "I think you're condecending too" train coming through? I'm not changing, and I"m not going anywhere. If you don't like it, don't read my fucking posts.
FTR - there have been times I've read things from Mary and Drum and thought they were condecending too. That does not mean that I spend all day and night whining about it, and it does not mean that I start threads to discuss how sad I am that not everyone loves me. I buck up, I respond, and I move on. Grow the fuck up and quit reading boards non stop that make you so fucking upset. Kat's board bores me to tears. That's why I don't read it. It works quite well. Try it Kat's crew!!!!!!!
And please take this post as condecending, because for once, this one was meant to be.

I never shut people out, even when we argued. You dont go to kats board, and thats fine, but sometimes, just for the record, people dont post here because of you. I know you probably know that and more than likely dont care. But for what its worth... I could make the effort to get to know you other than the Current events nazi... but what good would that do me and would you reciprocate?? You are passionate about this, I understand that, but dont shut people out if you dont think that you like them, you might be pleasantly surprised in the end.
This was me extending the olive branch...
And as for "Kats Crew", as stated before, we would LIKE to be involved in discussions such as these, but we just dont feel like arguing with you. Maybe everyones additude needs to change, everyone start from the beginning, and see where that gets us.

Id like you to respect me, as Id like to respect you, so that we can all enjoy the boards, but thats not going to get us anywhere. I saw something I didnt like and I called you on it, just being blunt and clearing the air.
Look, you wanted to know why CE was dead, and Im being as honest as I can. I think everyones additude needs to change, and that people need to be a)more respectful of other peoples views and b)more willing to realize that there is more to a person and people dont enjoy sharing their beliefs and being called a cows ass for it. Thats all.
And yes, I AM extending the olive branch.
There WAS a time, I remember, when everyone used to post, and get along, and things were going along quite swimmingly. Even between you and "kats crew" as you like to call it. I think we need to all get back to basics here. And the number 1 thing is respect. And it needs to go both ways. Im not saying that directed at just you, but to everyone. People will be more willing to participate if there is a level of respect involved. All around.

Kenny did. I have my own ideas, but I don't really think it's enough of an issue to warrant an entire thread. I don't really have all that much of a problem with the way things transpire around here. It's like real life - there are people you get along with, people you're indifferent to, and peole you don't like. I've never had this dream that everyone would love each other and get along, and quite frankly, I've never seen that around here. The only reason I even responded to you is that I htink it is EXTREMELY dishonest of you to be pointing the fingers you are, making the claims you are, and trying to pretend that you're trying to make peace. It's bullshit. I don't care, but it is. Now one thing that I have always despised about CE boards is when they get thrown off track by personal vendettas. So if you will please forgive me, I won't be responding to anymore posts on the "IS Chrisfan a bitch, rude, or condecending and can we beat her with an olive branch?" topic. If you have any further issues with me, I'll happily hear them out via PM. Otherwise, I"m done because I"m not going to engage for too long in what I can't stand other people engaging in. |
