Can't Keep makes for a good show opener.
Vitalogy is awesome, I constantly flip my #2 spot between this one and Yield....Whippin', Tremor Christ, Last Exit, and Immortality are some of PJ's best, IMO.

I'm all for Vitalogy myself... awesome album showing a band branching out and exploring what they can do with their musicaltalents... and such damn fine results from doing so!
The Vitalogy album cover has to be one of my favourites of all time... the little mock - philosophical book is just to sit and look at while listening to the music... damn, I really, really have to get some PJ and listen to it soon, I'm really starting to miss them!

I'm really enjoying Eddie's work on the 7 Worlds Collide Album with Neil Finn, Johnny Marr, Sebastian Steinberg, Lisa Germano, et al. He sings a killer version of Stuff and Nonsense with Tim Finn. Goose bump beautiful. Neil Finn also out Morriseys Morrisey on There Is A Light That Never Goes Out.
I've also been listening to their unplugged session. i posted this on the RS site as well, but those unplugged sessions were the real deal. A couple of guitars, drums and vox and they're jamming. It's so raw and immediate. Porch just fucking rules.
The Vitalogy album is one of the best designed albums... cardboard covers are not so durable, but if it's a work of art, you're more likely to take care of it.

I keep my Vitalogy cd in a cd booklet. I'm afraid the cardboard cover will scratch the shit out of the cd.

Same goes for the 3 live "bootlegs" that I own.

I've kept my Vitalogy cover in really good condition, and I don't mind browsing through those really interesting pages from time to time! Good fun!
I've always been worried that sliding the CD out of the cover was going to stress and ruin the glue in the cardboard cover - but it has remained durable so far!

So far so good for mine as well....
Has anyone here heard PJ cover "Kick Out the Jams?" I've heard RATM's cover (which I think was awesome), but I'm having trouble thinking of how PJ would pull it off...They covered it a few times during their Canadian, and South American tour of 2005.

I didn't mind that Rage cover of Kick out the Jams myself! I'm having a hard time picturing Pearl Jam doing it, but then again, we're talking about a band that can pull of some pretty darn good covers. THeir bootlegs are full of 'em, Fortunate Son, Rocking in the Free World, hell they even pulled off a Jam during Daughter in one performances that bled into a semi cover of REM's "The Wrong Child"... they're a pretty damn clever bunch of musicians when they put their mind to it, I say.

Has anyone here been to www.pearljamlive.com? I'm listening to a show right now from 1996, from Randell Island, NY....It's pretty errie b/c apparantly lots of people are swaying and knocking each other down in the front....it gets to the point where Eddie stops the show twice to warn people to stop and be carefull. He then says "if someone was hurt to the point where they didn't live beyond tonight, I don't think we can play again....music ain't that important"...it's sad to listen to this, knowing 4 years later 9 people would die at a PJ show. It's just a weird thing to hear Eddies concerns 4 years before the tragic Roskilde concert.... On a positive note.....for those who like Jack behind the kit the best w/ PJ, there are about 8 or so gigs from 1996 w/ Jack....IMO PJ plays w/ a lot more energy, and they sound more raw w/ Jack....They way they were meant to sound.

Vitalogy is a strong album indeed. If you can find it, there is an "official bootleg" from the 2000 tour from Katowise (sp?), Poland that has one of, if not the best version of "Immortality" I've ever heard.

Got this info from a PJ fan site...Don't know how accurate it is, but it seems prety legit...
PEARL JAM
Exclusive listening
This morning in the offices of Sony/BMG in Spain we've had exclusive access, as the only accredited media, to the hearing of six songs already mastered from what will be Pearl Jam's next album.
The album, of which the title is still unknown, will be in stores beginning May 2nd and is one of the more awaited releases for this year from the multinational, along with AC/DC, of which they don't have information yet, and Tool, which will be available the same May 2nd. Of the songs we've heard is where we get the idea that Pearl Jam goes back to being that powerful band that bewitched in the 90's. It seems like it will be an LP that retroacts itself to the sound of their first works. The production of the guitar and drums goes back to being very raw, the songs very rocking, with a lot of guitar riffs and solos, and Eddie Vedder recovers his agressive tone. Thus, "Severed Hand," the first song that we were able to listen to, fulfills all these requisites. It's a tune with a lot of groove, with that feeling given out by songs like "Alive." It's a constant guitar flow mixed with a great chorus where Vedder goes back to shining like the old days. From the ones we've heard, there's a lot more songs along those lines. For example, without going any further, the selection of the single is surprising for not being a usable single at all. It's called "World Wide Suicide" and, although still it is not completely confirmed, it could indeed be the definite single. In this tune Vedder goes out singing with all his strength, and with a lot of guts that “World Wide Suicide” thing. It’s a tune that gives out sweat, just like “Comatose” does, a very fast song mixed with a touch of insanity and recklessness that has already characterized some of Pearl Jam’s compositions at the beginning of their career. The solos and the way Eddie tears apart his voice will leave you astonished. The other two compositions could compare more closely with their latter works, especially “Unemployable,” more calm with respect to rhythm, with Eddie playing around with background vocals and double voices. “Parachutes” reminds melodically to the Beatles, accompanying the guitars with acoustics and a very marked bass line.
In any case, we don’t know if they have leaked these six songs to us in a premeditated way, but, if it has been casual, this new Pearl Jam album could bring us back the fresh Pearl Jam that we all enjoyed in the nineties. So be it.
ÑAKO MARTÍNEZ
TRACK LIST: “Severed Han” “World Wide Suicide” “Life Wasted” “Unemployable” “Parachutes” “Comatose”
