Seems promising, doesn't it? As long as it's better than Riot Act, I'll be a happy camper. Looking forward to some official news, and a tour schedule......We should have some within the next few weeks (mid March or so).

I (kinda) liked Riot Act . . . but I'm yearning for the UNcontrolled chaos of the straight-ahead, rockin Pearl Jam as opposed to the more careful construction of melodies exemplified on Riot Act. Words like "blistering" and phrases such as "a scorcher" are what I hope to apply to the new PJ.

Sounds like the new album shoul've been called Riot Act....Perhaps that's why I was dissapointed w/ it b/c the name is kinda misleading; like false advertising....There wasn't much rioting going on w/ Riot Act, it was a rather calm album. Early reports say this is heavier (but not Black Sabbath heavy), aggressive, and raw. For me, that = a great PJ album.....

I understand the new album to be self titled.
If this is true, my satisfaction on that matter will be 100%.
And I swear upon all that rocks in my soul, that I shall stop at nothing to see them live this time.
I'd even travel to Philly just for the opportunity to see them with Clubber and Pissin.

I've gotten wind that this is a fake cover of Rolling Stone and PJ will not be on the cover.... They're a great band to see live, well at least 95% of the time....If you make it to DC (assuming they play here) look me up. The new album is indeed titled 'Pearl Jam'; interesting choice, I just hope the music rocks!

It bodes well for the music contained within. A good example is the latest, self-titled Cure album: I swear I think it's every bit as accomplished along the Cure's classic lines as any of their older material. Cure self titled is a revelation to me, here's a band that definitely still has some of the old medicine in them. Cure self titled never lets up, from start to finish, it sounds as if it were recorded a decade prior and sealed into a time capsule, for us to uncover today. It's aggressively tinged darkness just saturates w/reverb Robert Smith's anguished vocals, and the lyrics are every bit as immediate and gripping as he's ever penned, imo.
In any case, I don't know how I know this, but it's clear to me that the new pearl jam will meet higher standards than normal, maybe in part because it is self titled. I think that subconsciously affects the musician's output, they know they're putting it all on the line w/a self-titled, they best step up to the plate so to speak.
Man I can't wait for this . . .
