I just think it's ridiculous to have dozens of boards each devoted to one specific fleeting news topic. As I said at FYI, we never had this problem at the old RS and it worked just fine.

Art, even the old RS boards would get off topic. Just because the headliner said one thing doesn't mean the topic stayed there. Locking someone else's board is just a dictatorship style way to get your way.

There were thousands of topics at the old RS boards. You could start one whenever you wanted. There was one main CE thread and there still will be if you make it sticky. We had alot of problems over at RS but it was alot bigger and not our lot handle it. Here we have to work things out. It's the easiest thing in the world. When a debate on board politics (reasonable things anyway) comes up, start a poll and let democracy reign.

I believe I said I was against locking boards and deleting posts. CF kept deleting a post of mine and I PMed her demanding to know why. All she wants is for CE to stay about CE. She's not saying what you can post about, although that comic crap was distracting to say the least. If a thread drifts somewhat off-topic naturally, that's fine, but deliberately manipulating it in order to drastically alter the current discussion or the thread subject is something else entirely.

I think that, possibly, disruptive posts should be deleted if there are too many to be ignored, but locking a whole series of boards is out of the question. First of all, if you are not the creator of the board you should not have the power to lock it . Only delete if it is obviously being neglected or abandoned by the originator or otherwise unused in a long time.

Anyhow, isn't "current events" alittle vague for a single topic? I mean even back on the old boards people would complain about harping on a single subject too long. This way you get to talk about whatever gets your fancy on any given day and other can choose to respond or not.

There's a poll over at CE. I have no idea if Strat would honor it or not but at least we can find out where everyone stands. If the majority say they want a single board, that's fine by me.
