- I have to assume that there are members of the Sedaka Clique who don't like shin, and could give a fuck about whatever beef some of us (read, like 3 or 4 of us) might have with RocDoc. This idea that the entire Clique lives to fuck with him is a projection of his overinflated ego and nothing else. Hell, there are members of the Clique who like RocDoc. thorn admitted it right here. So that's just a silly fantasy. No offense to the Doc, but the reason why he takes so much shit is simple: He's as easy a target as can be. His opinions on pretty much everything are steadfast, and at times, according to quite a few, a bit offbase. And when you're on the polar opposite of an issue as the Doc, you can expect 3 or 4 (... or 5... or 6) distinctly elaborate paragraphs about why he's right and you're wrong. It makes for some pretty good reading. I think the culture of the "other board" often involves messing around, and as it's already been said, it's mostly a community of loose and honest (interpret that as you wish) buddies. Nothing wrong with that (except for certain situations... like insulting somebody for having trouble coping with a friend's death, or something along those lines). Either call someone out directly or shut the fuck up, proud.

I don't see a problem. Yes, Shin, we are more or less on the same page, but you made some assertions about Sedaka in order to try to present it in the best possible light that were mis-characterizations. That doesn't project a very strong sense of sincerity, I have to say.
For the non-Sedaka people, you might like to know that everything is not always sweetness and light over there, either. Let's just leave it at that.
What makes it even worse that is, if you guys don't think we're assholes, not one nonsedaka castaway ever stands up for us.
There are probably a couple of factors at work here. One is that many people find "wolf pack" behavior very unbecoming and distasteful. Bullies are never very popular. Especially if you're their target, but even if you don't even care for the target yourself. Not that a lot of people there are like that, of course, but that may be the perception. There are, however, a couple of people there who ONLY EVER make a post here to try to stir up shit and get in a dig at someone. They evidently catch wind of something over there, and surf in over here to stir it up. There's no way they could lurk here that much, and why would they? They never make any normal, conversational posts, but only come in to harass people. It doesn't really help the Sedaka image; everyone knows what's going on, if you see what I mean.
Another factor may be that they don't think it's necessary. Shin says, "We keep to ourselves." Most people don't like being made to feel like outsiders. People don't care for "in" jokes that exclude them, either. That's just human nature. You wouldn't really expect someone to say, "Hey, you guys are great! I love the way you denied my membership and don't let anyone see what you're saying! I think it's so cool the way you get together over there and target people here!" I'm not saying that happens all the time, but we know it has. The Sedaka group, by its exclusionary and secretive nature, is bound to be regarded with some suspicion by some of those who have been excluded or don't seek to join. I'm just giving you my take on this.
One way to shed some light on the schism we have here might be to look at the demographics. From what I understand, the membership there tends to be generally a little younger. There seems to be a few more people of a "rebellious" nature who see themselves as "hipper." You might even say a few are radicals and resent ANYTHING they see as any type of "authority." I think most of us here have at least a little of that in us, and it's surely a hallmark of youth, and a good one. But I sure have taken an awful lot of guff on that account. So have a few other moderators and regulars. You even have one or two over there who made it their mission in life to get banned from here by continuously pushing the limits and trying to be as disruptive as possible, for its own sake.
Trying to maintain an environment that's open to all, where maximum freedom of expression can exist without that environment being destroyed or self-destructing can be a real pain in the ass.
I know it was RocDoc who dropped the Sedaka name first at the PF thread, and it was Maarts who started this thread in an effort to clear the air, and so I guess my appeal for a little more discretion is probably a few years too late. Of course, there's nothing wrong with private conversations - whether at another website, via email, or by any other means - but discretion never goes out of style. Neither does friendship.
And friendships and more have blossomed, from RS.com to Castaways, to Sedaka, and all points in between. And much has been shared through posts, emails, PMs, phone calls, visits, you name it. Because we surfed into rollingstone.com. And we're still here. ...How weird is that?

BTW, Sable was way hotter in her first Playboy. But the leather thing doesn't really do it for me, anyway.

I'm not into leather either. I like lace and shear, myself.

Yeah, if I remember right, her first Playboy was a bit more "lace and shear." Her bewbs looked better, too, they must have gotten a new airbrusher for the second one.
Plus I think she had more pics on a bed and stuff, as opposed to in "leather environments" like bikes or whatever. That stuff is stupid.

This is one fucked up place, Strat. But you're right - it has to be special because we are all indeed still here - and it's not just for the music chat.
I guess we're all guilty of taking it all a little too seriously at times, but on the whole it's all good. It's easy to ignore those who don't have your good opinion, or those who sadly lost it for whatever reason. Very easy.
Now, anyone got anymore pictures of babies reading porn/fornicating with small animals?

Ah. Ok, will call off the Fuzz then.
Not sure Shin was quite so smart though. Guess he'll have to try the old 'was doing some research for a new book I was writing to help me deal withthe trauma of being buggered by a cat as a small child' defence. Should be fine, there is a precedence.

Well, if you're going to write a book you need to do the research. That's actually baby shin in a cat suit. True story.

Oh yeah - you can tell that's Shin by the ego-maniac look in his eyes.
One day I'm going to rule the cyber-world. Now squeal kitty, squeal...
