Awright, let's work this out. I hope we can sort out a few conceptions/misconceptions here.
As the Pink Floyd- and CE-boards prove on a regular basis there's still this Sedaka vs Castaways-tribalism going on. If I post here it's strictly as a Castaway as I'm not part of the Sedaka-tribe (although they have welcomed me- appreciated very much but I'm an old coot whose interests are a bit different from yours). It is a pity though that we clash on several cases and the upshot of that is that a lot of good people have decided to leave these boards.
So what do we all want?
My pick on this is that the Castaway-regulars feel the Sedakas are only out here to stir the shit and are only here to bait people out.
I guess the Sedakas feel that Castaways here are a bit too high 'n mighty and expect people to follow certain rules of engagement a la Chrisfan policing the threads on content, not wanting to have fun or can relate to the new breed of posters that are out there too.
I didn't set up this board as a new warzone, just as a means of discussion to see what we can learn from each other and clear up any misconceptions about us all.
From my viewpoint: I despise the warfare around here. Doesn't matter whatever sets it off. I accused several people on CE once of baiting people on purpose. So is it a set plan or am I wrong?
Anyone with me to work this out?

My two cents is this - I don't see it as "Castaways vs. Sedakas" I don't have any problem most of the people here, in fact most the people here have been invited and welcomed to the Sedaka boards. Some choose to continue to post there others have decided it's not for them. There are few people we know ahead of time would just clash, so what's the point? It's not a secret society, despite what everyone else thinks we don't just sit over there and talk about over here. To everyone's disappointment, I'm sure, pretty much nothing has been said about someone here that wasn't said here.
I think only a few Castaways feel like we're here to stir shit especially since many of the regulars here are regulars there. We are a little tighter knit over there, not that people aren't friends over here.
I'm not going to claim we never purposely pushed Chrisfan's or Rocdoc's buttons but I don't think you can honestly say they never did it to us. I like to be able to clear the air here but the honest truth is I don't think "we" and rocdoc will ever get along but maybe we can quell the fighting. There are people here I feel bad about irritating, there are genuinely nice people over here.
I don't think much will change as long some people continue to deny a roll in it. We sedaka-ites have been honest and forth coming about our role and intentions over here. I'm sure both sides will claim it's reactionary, neither the catalyst but the truth is all involved come out to dance and it's going to take all involved to stop it.

I think both boards should merge.
There's been a lot of talk about these message boards. Maybe.., maybe too much talk. Sedaka is not a rebel's board. But this board rules, bloody rules. ;D

Almost all Sedakas are RS.commers, and almost all of those were part of the Neil Sedaka board before RS.com dropped the boards. The board was hidden from the larger RS.com community because we wanted to keep it simple between friends. And now we have a members-only proboards. There's no actual dynamic at foot that wasn't in play 4 years ago, with the exception of about 6-8 Castaways members who weren't part of the RS.com Sedaka board.
And I'm not the ringleader, btw. Truth is that Knightschool started the RS.com board, then his exile from here in the 2004 early days prompted us to start our own proboards community. I'm just keeping the show running (and dropping the occasional Shawk'n Aw dialup gif bomb to keep you all on your toes) until he returns for good.

I didn't know anyone had freshly decided to leave... If anyone has, I hope that they will PM or email me about their concerns. This community belongs to its members. It does help to know what's going on, though.
Frankly, I don't care who belongs to what other forums, email rings, etc. This is an open forum, and it's naturally going to be different from those that are hidden from view and joined by invitation only, with the option to blackball. It's best to use a little discretion when discussing that type in public. You know, like Freemasons or something would.
Because, indeed, a lot of our dearest posters are members there, and so what? A lot are not. So what. I'm a member of a small msn group with a handful of past and present RS.com members who want to keep in touch with each other. So what.
However, this "nothing said over there" line will always ring a bit hollow as long as the threads are hidden, and as long as it has the group titles it does. Might as well either unhide it all, hide the rest of it, or maybe just shut the fuck up about it.
Here is my stock, broken record pep-talk/group-hug/let's-get-our-shit-together speech:

honestly, I feel equally attached to both boards. I really don't feel as though there's a rift. If there is, it's regretable. Yeah, some folks don't like each other. Nothing that adults can't deal with, ya know?

Strat, you don't really have any points, though. You seem to be willfully misunderstanding the purpose of Sedaka and its customs. No, I don't have to "unhide it all" nor "shut the fuck up" about it. Who brings up Sedaka? Us? Who started this thread? Us? Who's trying to make this into a war? Us?
I've said this before and I'll say it again: 7 out of 10 of the highest posters here are regulars on Sedaka. 8 if you include maarts, who no longer posts there with any consistency, if at all. Shit, if you include Pissin based on where he used to stand here postwise, you'd have 9 out of the top 11. Who is this war being fought between?
What this is is a group of people who don't care much for RocDoc and whom RocDoc doesn't care much for. That's where this goes and that's where this ends. Any insistence at making it more than that is a waste of time and feeding into delusions of grandeur.
