but philly IS a great sports town...and i'll tell you what, they don't ever get a chance to be bored. ~ I hope to god someone brings the entries on this blog to the cubs' attention: blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_hardball/2007/10/grace-cubs-hang.htmlOriginally posted: October 4, 2007 Grace: Cubs hanging their heads By Paul Sullivan, 11:38 p.m.
PHOENIX -- As the Cubs took the field in the bottom of the fifth inning of Game 2, D’backs analyst Mark Grace blasted them for hanging their heads.
The former Cubs star said he saw a lot of “bad body language” in the Cubs dugout during the top half of the fifth, as if the team already had given up any hopes of a comeback, trailing 6-2.
“They’re looking at their toes instead of being on their toes,” Grace told his radio audience.
The Cubs trail 8-2 in the top of the sixth.

Comments I see exactly the same thing. Looks to me like they threw in the towel 2 innings ago.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am so sick of Grace. Can we just stop giving him any attn? What did he really do anyway for the cubs? most hits in the 90's? that's like the tallest midget...
Grace, you have your ring so just quit crying about leaving the cubs.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Grace was the only Cub I did not hate.
I am glad he got his WS ring as soon as he took off that horrible Cubs uniform.
Cubs lose...AGAIN!
Baaa-haaa-haaa!!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Grace was completely right. The last two nights they've looked down, their body language has been terrible and they're playing that way.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He is right...Be a professional! nobody wants to see that...throw strikes, hit the ball...amazing!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yeah, come on Cubbies! You gotta go out and earn this. It's not going to be easy.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Grace. Traitor. Any other description, no matter how accurate, would be subject to censorship.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Does this really surprise anyone? The Cubs have always lacked any "Cubbie Swagger". Once they trail by any decent margin the game is over. Yesterday should have been about winning game 1, not worrying about game 3.

That was an amazing game ! The Sox looked like a runaway train going down the tracks at 1000 MPH ! The Rockies got to shake the cobwebs tonight or they are dead meat ... First inning was just awesome! three Ks on fifteen pitches... Every single pich a fastball ! Here it comes suckers! Try touching it ! ! I went to bed after the fifth inning. The Sox sent 9 batters to the plate after TWO OUTS ! Took 34 minutes to play that half-inning ... Holy cow! I love the Red Sox!

It was almost a relief when Beckett walked one in the fifth. The man's a machine!
Hope it's not gonna be a walkover. The Rockies don't deserve that.

Maybe but it's fun to see the Sox trampling the opposition for the last four games !
Combined scores is like ... what ? 50 to 6 !

BTW- where did those insects come from in Cleveland last night? An unforeseen last plague of God? I'm a little late in reading this thread, but thought I'd answer that those little insects are one of the "perks" of living on Lake Erie. They come every year. Jacobs Field is far enough from the lake that they usually don't swarm that far inland, but i guess they made an exception. Those little suckers used to be a nightmare for me when I was a kid with a paper route delivering to houses along the lake.

The lights from that stadium must've worked as a giant magnet for those bugs. I'm not scared of them but the thought of a swarm upon me while I was there...brrr!

As much as the batters struck well, last night was a fine pitching duel. Schilling's joints must be shot after all that labour he's been putting them through.
