And with our team nearly up to its best in terms of playing personnel... it just doesn't seem to make sense... kinda baffling! Well, they are back down to 10th on the ladder now... and September dreams are starting to slip from their sights...

Yeah, they got a proper belting from the Maggies eh? Still it's difficult to see how they would miss out on finals footy. Brisbane only just made the 8 now- they look ominous but they aren't as invincible as they once were. The Swans aren't exactly hot favourites to stay in the 8 either. Good match against the Tigers though.

Thinking Port's chances of getting into the finals look even more slim now... that loss to the Kangaroos on the weekend... by four points... from a winning lead of 40 points which Port had at half time... just a shameful, woeful effort! SO disappointed, appalled and let down!
And now even if they got into the finals series, they'd be playing interstate, where they have lots just about every game this year...
Time for a rebuilding??! You bet.

Hmm, despite all your qualms Port booked its place in the finals....you must be steaming seeing the Crows winning the minor premiership.
Quite happy though seeing the Swans finishing third and a good chance at Subiaco next Friday!

What an interesting / excruciating season! For the last 14 weeks we've basically watched our favourite (well, Mellie, mine, and my family's anyways...) come with potential, win a game, drop a game, win a game... be in the race, be out of the race... now they earned themselves at least a berth in the finals... but who knows now??! They are finals hardened, they've been here before and emerged triumphant... but are they tough enough anymore?! Their win - loss - win - loss pattern won't be any good for them now...
They have to win, win, win, win...
And yeah watching the Crows sneak their way to minor premier... ughhh! I'll admit they are a team on fire right now, that realkly look the business... but aside from a few 1997/98 preimiership layers, they are a pretty green side finals - wise... lets hope they bomb out early, through lack of experience and the cream rises to the top, with Port making their way through to another big Grand final victory... hahahahahahahaha
Yeah, I do know how to dream and dream big!!! lol!!!
The most likely scenario would be Port bowing out early with a loss to North Melbourne at the Telstra Dome... a side they don't find easy to beat, in a setting they don't play well in.
The odds really are against Port, but they might find some magic after all...

I think Port are a good chance against the Kangas, especially if midfield form keeps on going- thought Francou showed signs of good form in the second half against Fremantle and if he keeps on hitting targets (Tredrea), they have a chance. The Kangaroos had a solid season but are not infallible. I thought their defense against the Swans looked a bit rickety especially when they strated to swamp them in the 50. Glenn Archer gets a bit long in the tooth too. Still, tough to beat and Port's away-form has been very patchy, to say the least.
But Adelaide I must say, are the team to beat. Shit, they look swift in transition. Lots of big forwards who can kick goals from anywhere- Hentschel, McGregor, even Perrie kicking them from anywhere they like.

Actually I read this story- seems like two of the great AFL-clubs will play a trial match in Los Angeles early next year:
Kangaroos, Swans to play in L.A.
The Kangaroos and Sydney will head to the United States to play the Los Angeles Challenge in January 2006, as part of Australia Week activities in California.
AFL Football Operations Manager Adrian Anderson said the AFL was delighted the sport had been asked to join the Australia Week program, which aims to raise Australia's commercial and cultural profile in Southern California.
"The AFL is the biggest sporting code in Australia, with our attendances and our participation rates, and we've always prided ourselves on the excitement, passion and unique skills of our game," Anderson said.
"We are delighted that two of our clubs will travel to Los Angeles to play at UCLA on January 15 next year to show off the unique skills of our only indigenous sport as Australia aims to strengthen its links with the powerful Californian economy," he said.

It's a pity they aren't gong to Milwaukee... Mellie would love to catch another game! :-)
Looking forward to Sunday afternoon... the big test for port... time to turn some kangaroos into roadkill! :-)

I gotta talk up my team... although I really think the 'roos are more than capable of beating us, really...
As much as I'd like to see them fall writhing in the dirt, I think Adelaide are going to win... Riccuito being out for one match won't affect them all that much, so I gotta hope that maybe their lack of finals experience will expose some weaknesses... living around here with that team being so successful is starting to drive me NUTS!!! You'd think there was only one team in town... Crows overkill?! Over here, you bet.
I think West Coast are looking ordinary too, and the Swannies looking strong... I think West Coast will go down, unless their recent loses inspire them to pick up a bit of form.
Geelong can probably do in the Demons, especially at Skilled Stadium!

I think that only Sydney and Adelaide have shown consistent form over the last few weeks but all the others, on the day are capable of beating any other team too. Port's been a bit hot and cold lately but at least some of their key personnel seem to be in good touch- the Cornes-brothers, Tredrea, Francou especially.
I like the look of the Swans and believe me, the whole state's right behind them. I think they're the best organised team as in evry line's well covered and they work hard for each other. the mere fact that Barry Hall was so unselfish to give his surrounding players chances to kick goals rather than to go for goal himself and become this year's top scorer speaks volumes. They beat the Eagles earlier at the SCG and they tore them apart in the middle- Nick Davis was outstanding! They can do that again. But you never know, they keep on saying finals footy's different.
BTW the Cats-Demons-match, I think is at Telstra.

No, I'm wrong, the Cats play the Demons at the MCG. Could be interesting thoyugh for the Demons were one of the few sides who beat Geelong at Skilled (one point the difference?). Robertson is in awesome form, even when Neitz is out injured he will be tough to beat by the young Cats-backline.

I also would like the Saints to beat the Crows but Riewoldt's not quite 100% and the G-train still ain't certain of playing. I like this match very much because both teams have a lot of skill across the line and propel the ball very quickly to the frontlines. The reason why I tip the Crows is just the gfact that they have so many players who can kick a goal- they spread out nice and even across the forward pack, whereas St. Kilda only have a few 'go-men' in front of the sticks. Riewoldt's probably one of the ugliest kickers of the ball in set plays but he has a lot of class. But with Justin Koscitzky out of the game, they are gonna struggle- as Fremantle proved, they need to go the full 4 quarters to beat the Crows.

Heck, I'd go up to Milwaukeee to see a game of Footy in the flesh...tho I doubt they'd try to do it there in January like this game in LA's going to be.
Yeah, the great minds in California would program an 'Australia Week' in friggin January, when most of the rest of the country would be largely inhospitable to an outdoor-friendly tour of Auzzie events...tho I guess you could do indoor stadiums. Scratch Milwaukee AND Chicago in any event. Tho then you need to ask how much larger a Footy field is than an American football field
