Seems your mob are getting really into contention this year. Been a weird old season with all the drama at the Eagles. Now Sheedy's been sacked as well- always thought he got a bit long in the tooth.

They are looking like they have something! Who knows, they might even capitalize on it this year instead of turning to Jelly as in previous years! They've got a not too difficult run into the finals, so have my fingers crossed! If they make the Grand Final the people in the apartments here are going to see a whole new side of their quiet Australian co - resident... hehehehehehehehehehe!
I agree that it was probably time for Sheedy to go - he's been around too long at the same club and there comes a time when your ideas and approach just get stale and don't work anymore - he hasn't been that effective at Essendon for a long time, and was probably just hanging in there on reputation and tradition...
A few of those bottom end clubs seem to be in crisis too... it amazes me that Carlton can win the Wizard Cup and look good in doing so and then do so crap during the home and away season...
But such is the volatile nature of Aussie rules footy, as they say!

Feel sorry for Denis Pagan. He's a much better coach than the team he had to work with.
Port looked a bit soft at the start of the season and lost a couple of crucial matches but they seem to gel well. I've tipped them top four with the Cats, Kangas and Eagles close behind. Sydney's too unpredictable to call at the moment although they looked good against Richmond, a team they have struggled with in the last few seasons. The Lions could be a surprise package. They tore the Magpies apart last night!

Yeah, Pagan got it rough - Carlton are shocking this year and he really didn't have alot to work with - he's a great coach though - he did wonderful thin gs when he was with the Kangaroos. Hopefully another club is going to recognise this and take him on board.
I bet Sheedy will get some Media savvy role - he seems to have alot of appeal to footy fans of any club, usedc to appear frequently on channel ine's footy too - I don't doubt he's got a future though, and a good one, whether he gets another head coach role or something else...

Neale Daniher reckons he's 'in the picture' with Essendon and Sheeds may have got something on offer from the Demons. Not sure whether both teams are looking for coaches who have been sacked in the course of the season due to poor performances of their teams though. Michael Voss is already in the picture to be a new coach and Fremantle's Chris Connelly won't be without a team too long either.
Sheedy is indeed very media-savvy and in a way I guess that has cost him his head. To be able to crack jokes with journos during press conferences after his team got another belting on the weekend must have given a lot of Essendon-figureheads the idea that he wasn't taking his job serious. I'll tip him to take over the presentation of the AFL Footy Show...
BTW- that was some performance of the Power over those hapless Demons.

...still as good would be the Crows pipped at the post by Hawthorn, wouldn't it? Watched the match, thought it was one of the best matches I've seen all season.

I don't know what to say... I am just... gobsmacked, and it will take the major part of the pre - season to recover from such a shocking defeat... unbelievable, really...
How could they be so sharp one week and then blow so hard the next?! I know they were a young side and full of inexperienced kids, but there were TEN former premiership players in that side.... arrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhh!
It was a thumping of mammoth proportions! They should all have to listen to the Bumblebeez non stop at training for the next month just to pay for it!
Just... apalling...

I watched the match on David Bridie's big screen and, from the get-go, port wasn't switched on. Geelong played fantastic footie! The way they harassed your backline,. making them turn over the ball, it was pressure stuff from the beginning. Honestly, when I saw both Cornes-brothers taking a breather on the bench at the end of the first quarter, I felt that it was done. They were being run ragged. And when lugs like Chapman take flying marks on top of Tredrea's back, you know it ain't gonna be your day. Dream match if you're a Cats-fan. The room I was in was cheering. Bloody Victorians.

At least Rachel was sympathethic to your plight. She enjoyed us text messaging during the match. When I mentioned you had gone to bed after the third quarter she went 'awwwww...'

Hahahahahahahaha... not only did I go to bed but I folded my Port scarf in disgust and put it away until next season... :-( The next day I defended them on the AdelaideNow news website where a whole ton of Crows were clearly getting their jollies out of it...
Gotta hand it to the Cats. They had us licked from the very beginning and we never even looked like we were competitive.
It was like watching a freight train colliding with a horse and cart, really...
Not at tempted to pull the game up online and watch it... hahahahahahahahaha!
There's always next year! And at least we're not West Coast at the moment...
