Don't even think about reading this if you're not caught up.
We may only have have eight episodes of Lost and I may have to kill some writers but until then I'm going to assume Lost we be finiahsed as scheduled...or maybe with slight delays...
Anyway let's start with obvious, we are the six? We know Jack, Hurley and Kate. Three more. I think Locke is one, mostly because he wanted to leave the least and because they'll have to answer whether or not he can walk off the island. Sawyer's a good guess from Kate's conversation with Jack at the end of last season. Number six is a mystery unless I missed a clue. So let's get started.

Good move DED!
Here's my big question on the six (and I'm about 50/50 with my theories and speculation, so take it for what you wish) ... Do we know that Jack and Kate are included? To the best of my knowledge, Hurley is the only one that has been referenced that way. The natural inclination is to believe that it is the six survivors, so Jack and Kate are included. What if its something else? Like, the six known to be dead?
The reason I started thinking that is that there seemed to be SO many clues in the scene were Jack and Hurley were playing HORSE. Primarily, Hurley made every single shot, and Jack missed every single shot. That made me think that SOMETHING is different between the two of them. Could Hurley be immortal, and Jack mortal? I also noticed something was wacky about Jack's teeth in that scene, but not in any other scenes, so I think that is a clue that at some point, Jack's face gets seriously smashed in.

I'd have a better idea if I knew the timeline.
Right now, the only person I'm going to predict is that I believe Claire got off the island.

I don't think Claire's off....don't know why though, I just don't think so. I didn't notice Jack's teeth in the basketball scene. This is kinda neat- youtube.com/watch?v=0ILPnh4mOKo

I don't think there's anything behind the fact that Hurley got every shot in. Didn't Jack say that he never missed a shot before they even started playing? As for Jack's teeth, I picked up on that and I'm surprised you noticed it too. I just thought it was something he always had but never noticed before, but since you picked up on it as well it's got me thinking too... or maybe it was just a bad camera angle. Anyway, you gotta give credit to the Lost writers. If anyone deserves to go on strike for more benefits, it's those guys. I mean you gotta have a pretty vivid imagination to come up with those storylines and actually make it work.

oh, and I don't think Claire is one of the six. Too much of a drama queen. Her baby might be the 6th though.

So does anyone else think that C.S. Lewis had been on the island prior to "crashing" last night? Nice little Narnia nod there with the swimming in the water Prince Caspian.
Also definitely something very fishy with the helicopter. The pilot says he landed it safely ... and yet he's thrown 100 yards from it??? How did he land it once he was thrown from it?

I'm very nervous about this season. It looks like they're going to introduce a whole bunch of new characters for no particular reason, and leave issues like Desmond & Penny/Walt & Michael/Sun's pregnancy unresolved for a while.
I also don't put much stock in the Oceanic Six stuff. Season 3 revolved around Desmond's visions and the notion that they could be changed, though not "avoided". So, yes, they may get off the island, but what connection that eventually has to what actually winds up transpiring, I'm not holding my breath on.
I just think they need to get on with it, especially now that the writers' strike is over/winding down.

And there needs to be more about Alvar Hanso! The man behind the curtain!
Hopefully that's who "Jacob" is. I like that they seem to be putting some attention back on him and his cabin.

Those recent scenes with Hurley and the cabin were creepy as hell.
I have no theories on the most recent episode. They're focusing on so many characters/storylines lately I feel like I'm losing track, so I'll just keep watching and see how things develop. Hopefully the next episode will provide a few answers instead of another series of questions.

They did the same thing last season - they've done the same thing every season really. We're introduced to a group of people we identify as bad, and then when we meet the next group, we realize the last bad ones are actually good. The tailies were bad until we met the others. Now the others aren't so bad because we've met the helicopter people.

But at what point is enough enough? Adding the tailies was important because Eko developed the "island character" further, and the others backstory began to answer the main questions of the show. These helicopter people don't seem to have any relevance or connection to anything island related. It's just about some people who want to kill Ben, evidently.
What's for next season, a cruise ship sinks off shore and we're introduced to the 20 survivors and their flashbacks? Aliens crash their UFO on the island and we introduce the Glurkniks and their flashbacks living back on Rigel VII?

Aren't we going to learn more about Ben as we learn why they want to kill him? I think that by the end, all the mysteries will be explained, and all the random stuff will be tied together. If they did it neatly from season to season, the show wouldn't hold half the intrigue that it does.

Watched last week's episode tonight (had it DVR'd) and while watching the previews for the next episode, noticed an almost subliminal flash between the clips. Going back through it frame-by-frame had it turn out to be the Dharma Initiative logo with a 6-headed snake on it. 6-headed snake,,,,6 Oceanic survivors.... Man, I love the head games but it's going to suck having such a short season and knowing you're going to be left with even MORE questions.

Obviously the people who want to kill ben want to kill him for a reason and it clearly has something to do with the Dharma Initiative. I'm glad they keep expanding outward....though I'd like to get back to more of what the island actually is. It all seems very natural to me, they knew they weren't alone and they run into the tail people who they think are the "others". They aren't the others are though, who also turn out to be more then a bunch of hillbillies on this island. Two islands actually. These ben assassins are really the first people to show up since the plane crash, I'm sure there's a reason they found a Dharma collar on a polar bear skeleton in the middle of the dessert and it's probably related to the island. The reason the pilot didn't fly the plane is probably more then he had a cold that day and Charles Manson is just freaky enough you know he knows something. I'm not sure how you could think they're unrelated.
