Doc ~ Somehow, I don't think your son will ever have problems getting a girlfriend!!
With those blond hair/baby blue eyes... You'll have to chase them with a broom stick!
Cute dog too!!

spaniel and something else?Something else entirely... Trust my older sister to always try to get the rarest kind of purebred dog In this case, it's a *Petit basset griffon vendéen* and she treats it as a friend/kid/confidant... anything but the (very) high-maintenance ball of fur that he is!! And I may inherit that dog sometimes in 2011 because my sister has been fighting a nasty kind of cancer for the last 2 years and the prognostic for a recovery is not very positive... www.dogbreedinfo.com/petitbassetgriffonvendeen.htm

@ Doc ~ The Québec city region is on the same latitude than Paris!!
We may have to endure long, cold snowy winters but summers - although they could be a tad longer - are usualy pretty warm with a few pretty hot/humid periods.
We also get real spring and autumn seasons for the same price!
It has been a good summer around here because May and June have been warmer than usual so the garden benefited from a good early start.
And... I also know my way around a kodak...!!

...and a pentax and a leica, etcetera etcetera etceterRRA (like the king of siam!)...
i DO find it hard to believe that up there in snowysnowy COLD canada you can be at the same latitude as a city which isn't even 'northern' europe. i need to see one of those mercator projection maps that looks like an opened-up one-piece orange peel...NOT to say that you shouldn't know phil! but that's too weird.
and that dog, boy that's some weird specialty mix. i can see the bassett. those ears. and the legs but luckily this one looks like he doesn't drag on the ground the way some bassetts do.
and i'm very sorry to hear about the situation your sister's in, phil. she's hanging in 2 years already though. tho i'm pretty sure if it's a 'nasty' cancer, this has NOT been any bargain.
all we can hope is more good days than the bad ones...my prayers and best wishes to her fwiw...

Chicago is 41.9...

that is some weird stuff...i mean paris' weather certainly isn't just like that of the center of canada. or of buffalo NY for that matter. the prevailing jet streams, large bodies of water have an effect certainly...perhaps some wobble in the earth's rotation and/or in the sun's orbit. i wonder how consistent the length of daylight is across any given latitude... that would seem like it should at least be kinda consistent. interesting. climate-wise, what else could you share with paris? ~ fwiw, i wonder where lumen disappeared to? hopefully it's JUST because she doesn't have a computer attached to her hip like some of us seem to...

Ok, I'm so sorry! I have been totally interested to see/read more about you guys. I got bogged down in some school stuff, for weeks, it's been. I "learned" and made two short film projects with Final Cut. Oh, it almost killed me. Don can tell ya I've been active on my Facebook these days - it's a repository for short little statements of self for me. Quick, and easy too. But it feels like cheating since I need to get back around here!
Where to begin...Phil, so sorry to hear about your sister. Sending good energy and thinking of you & yours.
What an awesome dog. Such a cutie. Most likely a great therapy, too. Jules is cute too! And yor garden and home are insane! I've been thinking - you probably need a house guest for the Summers. I'll be that house guest!
Beautiful children, both Phil and rocdoc - my GOD. Maybe it's a RS Castaways thing.
Hello to Strat and Jac!
Ok, a few pics from me.

Jason (husband guy) + me, Napa for my 30th birthday ('09) Me, 31st birthday this October (Wish I could say I made the cake.) Cats: Harry. Cheese. (W/ his tail in full effect.) He has allergies, so his face is always dirty from runny eyes. Poor guy! Geez, I find photobucket really annoying to navigate. Which is why I use flickr...but I guess you can't upload from flickr, not to proboards anyway, it seems.
