aw, she just wants comfy love!
When I first started with the company, Mojo was mean as hell. You could pet him but maybe for almost 3 strokes and if you didn't pull away you'd probably be having a paw swung at you. He mellowed the last few years though. UNLESS you tried to uproot him from his chair, esp. if it was winter and the furnace above him was kicked on.....

So we had a bit of snow, a bit of cold, and a LOT of wind yesterday....which all came back to me in the form of a 14-hr workday starting at about 1AM. It was wicked at times with sub-zero windchills and some good drifts to have to knock down --- but the worst was the constant equipment breakdowns. I went through one spreader (for ice melt) and FOUR snowblowers! Broken belts, broken pull cords, overheating & shutting down....meaning it was hours and hours behind a shovel instead. By noon we were just starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm down to the last drop of coffee in the thermos, no breaks taken and I think one peanut butter sandwich. By now the city plows have raked up nice piles along the streets and I'm downtown at this lot with this one remaining dinky blower, trying to hack a pathway to the curb. Next thing I know out of the corner of my eye I spy some dude crouching down beside me with a camera balanced on his shoulder....all the way up from an Indianapolis news station and he's got to pick me??? whatTHEfuck? I just kept beating away at the shit....got to get it done and move onto the next place like I had been since past Midnight. And Coppola here is zooming in and about, holding the thing at ground level, circling around me like the last crazed maple seed to drop from the tree.... So here's the "Film At 11" : www.theindychannel.com/video/26122062/index.htmlwhat.a.joke. "yeah, I want to order a dozen of 'em!" Nice shot of all 9'2" of me playing with the tinker toy huh? The funniest thing is that one of my other guys finished up a lot on the other block with one of the plow trucks and about 30 seconds after he shot me making my way up the sidewalk, I flagged my dude over and just had him jump the curb and wipe all the crusty white stuff away. oh well,,,,,guess he got the shot he was looking for!

Winter Wonderland fun, eh Don? Beautiful kitty, Phil. Looks a bit like my Annie, but sounds more like Cassie's personality (and Mojo). I like a cat with some spunk. Annie and her sister were dumped in the Winn-Dixie parking lot as kittens last spring. The white one went to another home and we kept Annie (Anubus - but usually answers to "Annie-bannanie," or just "Fuzzybutt"). She is the most good-natured cat I've ever seen - never puts out a claw or tooth to a person, no matter what. Very playful and funny, too. I had no idea when she was a kitten that she'd turn into a big puff ball. She's impervious to the cold. Very pretty, though! With sister - she's the dark one... Mid-meow - "Hello! I'm Annie-Bannanie!"

...Still miss my little friend Cassie these two years. Sometimes I start to call Annie "Cassie." 20 years is a long time...

Vivian Maier (February 1, 1926 – April 21, 2009) was an American amateur street photographer who grew up in France, and after returning to the U.S., worked for about forty years as a nanny in Chicago. During those years she took about 100,000 photographs, primarily of people and cityscapes most often in Chicago, although she traveled worldwide, taking pictures in each location. Her photographs remained unknown and mostly undeveloped until they were discovered by a local historian in 2007. Following Maier's death her work began to receive critical acclaim.[1] Her images have appeared in newspapers in Italy, Argentina, and England, and have been exhibited alongside other artists' work in Denmark and Norway; her first solo exhibition is running at the Chicago Cultural Center from January to April en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivian_MaierSome pictures... 2011.[2]http://www.vivianmaierphotography.com/

Annie went missing almost two weeks ago. Poor little thing - she was so sweet but not too smart. I think a coyote must have got her. Nothing else makes sense. She didn't last very long - only a year. We will miss her. Slim chance she might show up. I'm gonna kill me some coyotes around here. Mark my words.

aw that's a great bummer Jeff....sorry to hear. While I love the idea of giving a cat its outdoor freedom -and that all the ones I had in the past were in/out without a single loss- these days I've accepted that they can be happy just being kept indoors. Less chance of diseases and falling victim to whatever they might come across otherwise.

Thanks Don. It's a trade-off for sure. Though like you, I'd never had a bad outcome before. Cassie went 20 years at four different locations, but she was exceptional. I have this "Call of the Wild" viewpoint about it - quality of life, etc. The night Annie went missing she brought us a killed mouse to the door -- to be able to be a real cat... But I was never where there were coyotes around this close. I should have taken action sooner. We fell in love with her in such a short while - she was so good-natured. Never had one quite so much so.

My first great cat was Howard, who I had from when I was 5 until a couple years out of high school. He too lived with us at four different homes -- split about half & half between city living and country, even right along busy state highway 9. Helluva animal, helluva companion for 'being there' as I grew up....and I'm glad he had all these years living as a cat should and rightfully enjoying it.
Right now as I type this my youngest four-footer is shut out in the attached garage. He demands to be let in there and all I have to do is say the word "garage" and he skittles right to the door. A couple weeks ago I saw a mouse in there, running along the outer wall, so I'm all for Jaspur exercising his natural instinct in there!

Very sorry about your cat Strat.
That Vivian Maier photo is amazing.
Well hello all. I milled around a little on a few boards, saw there is activity every now and again, huh? Good to know. Hope all are well.
