Mary and Lumen..you are both right..absolutists statements, at ANY age are problematic!!..........I can remember in my mid to later 20s when I was deep into my imbibing and ancillary substance stage, I would say within earshot of anyone with such proud conviction that I would "never have a family"....................but then again, I could never envision a life without alcohol!!!............
And thank you for the very nice comments!!!..............
Just curious Lumen (and I don't mean this in a predator way!!!) how old are you?

entering the workplace as a career as opposed to a stopgap measure until they find "mr right" and have 35.46 little RN's and phils and marys and punkchicks and lumens and maarts and tunes, etc etcIf they're lucky...more often than not, they bring little louees and NickCs into the world.

"I'm 19 and something of a spinster. That's right, I've never had a "real" boyfriend. Most girls my age would be like "OMG I DON'T HAVE A BOYFRIEND, MY LIFE IS OVER!", but it doesn't bother me that much."--punkchick
responding to this now before i fully catch up....i didnt have my first bf til i was 20. didnt have sex til i was 20 (tho not with said bf). ive only had those two to really take as 'experiences'. and as for bf#2--i give up. he will find me when he's damn good and ready. he just might have to wait on me....

that was a lot to catch up on. i dont think id ever want to get married, to contribute to that convo, because...i dunno. i swing back and forth. the legal benefits are higher (esp when it comes to death of the spouse), but at the same time it seems so constrictive and still sexist. i dont know how id feel about it. im finally rethinking the kid thing, tho i still dont know about that. i figure if i want to, ill do these things--several years from now. oh yes. jesus, i keep hearing so much about the libertines, youd think they were the second coming. i dont remember being impressed by them. as for razorlight, are they in the same bracket? and i think its funny you credit me for getting you into interpol you know, they bored me to tears at curiosa. sigh. tho i hear great things about the new album...

Hey did anyone else get an email from some rs.com dude named Steven Carpenter?? Apparently he's the new "manager" of rollingstone.com, whatever that means, and he wants my "input" regarding possible features for a new community section of the web site. So uh, I guess they're still at least theoretically working on the new boards or something. Honestly though, I was tempted to reply and be like "sorry dude, you guys fucked up so much that we've gone and created a nice new space to interact and we don't give a shit about rs.com anymore" but instead I just didn't bother responding at all. I'm curious, after all these months at the new RS Castaways site, do people even imagine they'd go back to rs.com if it finally goes back??
anyway i'm going back to good ol' san francisco tomorrow, if i can just survive one last 6 hour plane trip! and i believe there's some erase errata and q and not u shows comin' up soon. also siouxsie and the banshees, but are they even worth seeing after all these years? awfully expensive ticket price, there...
Cheers, M

The only pro to going back to RS.com that i think is pretty obvious is that we don't all become inbred.

If they don't know what went wrong at the old place ... No wonder it's taking all this time to create a new site !
I'm sure somebody here will spread the news if and when RS.Com sets up shop again ... !!
Sometimes, I do miss the various trolls, garden trolls and space cadets who populated our old digs ...

jesus, i keep hearing so much about the libertines, youd think they were the second coming. i dont remember being impressed by them. as for razorlight, are they in the same bracket? Libertines are the second coming, heading up the burgeoning London punk scene and the British indie rock explosion as they do. Having said that, they're not as good as NME (the kings of hyperbole) make them out to be. Basically they've taken elements of punk (most notably the Clash, and Mick Jones is at the helm of both Libs albums so far) and indie, added their own twist, and come up with something awesome. I listened to their second album about an hour ago, and it's wonderful. Most years it would be the album of the year... ...but 2004 has been vintage. First up the Libs have been beaten at their own game by fellow Clash-worshippers Razorlight. But the similarities are uncanny, and Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell was once guitar tech and flatmate to the Libs or something like that, so perhaps that's not surprising. But Borrell has a better ear for an unashamedly catchy melody than the Libs. Secondly, yeah, the new Interpol album is the best thing I've heard in absolutely fucking years. Thirdly, I can't stop dancing to Franz Ferdinand and The Killers, who rival Razorlight for my newcomer of the year award. I honestly think all these albums will go down as classics one day, but we're not sufficiently removed for people to come out and say it. Up All Night, Franz Ferdinand, Hot Fuss, Antics and The Libertines are all pure gold five star albums. Easily my five of the year, even ahead of Absolution. If I were you dwaz, I'd make sure you've got every last one of 'em.
