Say what you want about Poison, but I really do love Talk Dirty to Me, and not in any sort of ironic fashion.
There's my embarrassing confession for the day. Next?

Oh yeah, and so is Dave w/VH.
Me, though, I'd never categorize any 80s cock rock band in any particularly low category. Except, like, Bon Jovi and maybe like Kyuss or Loverboy or something.

My synopsis:
Killers--all right, a few songs quite catchy with adolescent poignancyi......and they've been mining the 80s
Fernidando Fernandez Franco-Furter--heard a few songs...Strokes-lite
Razorlight----haven't heard that one yet..suspend judgement
Libertines--1st album, damn catchy and they've been listening to alot of Clash
...........that being said: What's truly NEW and ORIGINAL out there?

New genres, bud. I listened to this 3 times this morning, went out, had my hair cut, came back and now I want to put it on again...a terrific, varied disc. Tho it IS spanish-language(which I do NOT understand for shit)...and it AIN'T rock.

"Hoobastank"
i've listened to their first album, and i must say that it's extremely watered down, if not dumbed down nu-metal/pop-punk/top40 stuff. it's actually an okay listen (once or twice, anyway), but i've had enough. still, better than incubus (who i can't stand, other than for "pardon me", which is still kind of a ridiculous song).

And thank you for the very nice comments!!!.............. Just curious Lumen (and I don't mean this in a predator way!!!) how old are you? 24 and my birthday's the end of October...I can't fucking believe it. I've got strep throat. I'm taking tonight off from everything (currently settled in my plaid pjs, I am.) The boy I have apologetically stricken from my life for the evening. It's almost nice to be sick. I'm finally getting some time to myself, I've been around people constantly lately. Razorlilght is one of the best names for a band ever. I want to listen to them already.

Yeah, Incubus aren't very good either. This has probably been posted on these boards somewhere, but still it's a great website: www.youhavebadtasteinmusic.com

heh, we'll have to disagree on this one... whether or not i think the music is bad, i find that whole "you have bad taste in music" thing to be obnoxious and a disgrace to the idea of subjectivity in music. do i think linkin park blows chunks? you betcha. but i'll let the fans have what they want. they don't need me telling them they have bad taste. ... besides, enough people are telling them that already.

ok.... i adore ff--just wish they hadnt gotten popular. im always concerned cuz im worried the band will get lazy--but judging from interviews, i think theyll be fine. same with muse. and luke, matt belamy's voice is awesome! whats wrong with you, huh? absolutely adore muse. id send you a mix myself, but really, you shoudl just get origin of symmetry, their second album. their first has a few good songs, but its fairly mediocre. thanks for the song list, jesus--when i get the internet again, will dl em. they sound like an interesting band--but man, tehy seem to be having a hell of a time dealing with fame. oh well. razorlight got an awful review on pitchfork, but i always take their grades with a bit of salt. any songs i should dl on them? right now is brilliant for music--and most of it is english...hmm. i am not terribly impressed by the killers--coulda seem em on my bday, but didnt. their album has like 2 songs i like--its so derivative im not v into it. i dunno--it really does seem style over substance. i cant get into it....... i wonder when david lynch is gonna make another movie. hmm.

Mary -- In response to your question about seeing Siouxsie and the Banshees live, I would highly recommend the show assuming it's the tour with The Creatures as well.
When I saw Siouxsie and the Banshees two years ago for the Seven Year Itch tour, it was fairly good. They focused mainly on material that did not go beyond Tinderbox. While I don't necessarily prefer all of their early material, it was nice seeing them perform all the really old songs.
As for The Creatures, holy shit. The two times that I have seen them so far have been truly amazing. For some reason, you Budgie's drumming seems to be the focus of their performances. He's just a fabulous drummer, imo. Plus, The Creatures have a really cool vibe to them.
Personally, I am still debating whether or not I want to catch them in Atlanta in September. Granted, I'm also debating whether I should catch The Pixies in Atlanta in October (assuming their not completely sold out). One of the guys I recently met in the program offered to go with me to The Pixies if I decide to go. I'm having lunch with him on Tuesday so maybe it will come up in conversation again....
Oh, and niamh? Thanks for responding to the whole long distance relationship thing. While the boy and I are nowhere near the label stage (which is actually rather nice), I can definitely understand where you are coming from (re: the intensity of distance). The majority of my relationships have involved a 90 mile distance for some reason, but this is the first one that is so...relaxed or maybe undefined is a better word. Right now, it's working...I think...yeah, right. Who am I kidding here? Oh well.

I guess you have a point Proud, but it's just a joke. I do kind of wish they used a more subtle way to get kids to stop listening to mindless drivel and find real music though.
