hi all.weeping, I'm not listening to it this minute but I am absolutely hooked on Modest Mouses latest....it is virtually a perfect record and I can't extoll it enough...but about 1/2 hour ago I was listening to a best of Guided by Voices that I bought recently.....33 wonderful songs...and virtually all less than my required 2-3 minutes attention span!!!!

Bury Me With It has to be the coolest, if not the best song on the album.
I'm really glad I got into Modest Mouse. great band. Brock is a fantastic songwriter.

The Chieftains - Santiago Irish-influenced Spanish traditional...or is it Spanish-influenced IRISH traditional??? Either way, one of my top fave 'world' discs... Everlast - Slow Motion Daydream Good earnest pop-rock with just the right amount of guitar crunch n'squeeeeal... The Chieftains - Further Down The Old Plank Road ...it's become a Chieftains kinda day! Some of this stuff's a bit too trad old-timey, which is kinda surprising cos for me the Chieftains are ALL about standing things totally on their ear....they are a DANGEROUS band, primarily. ...but the cast list here is outstanding with Emmylou, Joe Ely, John Hiatt, Rosanne Cash, Carlene Carter(was she 'clean' I wonder?), John Prine and WAY too many other All-Stars....the TRUE standout is Allison Moorer's Nick's Farewell..... talk about mournful!!!!This is one that I can EASILY place on the CD 'Women Singers Who Put Neko To Shame' which has long been promised and is in the planning stages for Mary B...

Alien Lanes - Guided By Voices A twenty minute bus ride seemed like an hour. Not because the songs were bad or boring, but because I'm pretty sure I heard about 40 of them in that 20 minutes.

Gomez - In Our Gun... much better than my memory allowed me to believe! I should play it more often, as I am feeling quite impressed this evening, giving me more incentive to pick up the new Gomez this thursday...
It'll actually feel strange to have money again..... haven't been paid in four weeks!
