Oh yeah, the logo has Crumb written all over it without a doubt. Guess he also did a few of the Creem covers back in the old olden days. I probably still have some copies over at my mom's from back at the end of the 70's.....I was more of a Circus guy as I used to get pissed off at the Creem album reviews as they would get off on real fucked up tangents and not really even talk about the music. Guess at a young age I was missing the point that that was how the magazine was. Lester Bangs was REALLY out there at times and raised a chuckle.
I recall the same thing about the Boy Howdy "beer" and all the celebs they'd get to endorse it. Remember a pic of Gilda Radner dressed up in the t-shirt and little else.....wonder if one could get a can of the stuff on Ebay....
Guess Creem is back on the stands too -- last one I saw was all slick, glossy cover and lots of pics and shit. Wasn't at all like the past.......
n/p: Boney James, Dido, & Fareed Haque's unique take of CSN&Y's "Deja Vu"..........hey I'm at work DAMMIT!! Gotta be soooooothing to the customers...

In the summer of 1976, my friends and I went through 3 copies(vinyls)of "Blood on the Tracks".
The girl we were living with threatens to kick us out if we didn't stop listening to that album ...

The keyboard player in my band is obsessed with Blood On The Tracks at the moment. He's going to be involved in a Dylan tribute in a few months and he and his friends are going to perform that album in it's entirety. Should be good. Don, quote me a price on those old Creems and let's wheel and deal! I doubt you'll find a can of Boy Howdy, because it never existed! The one Boy Howdy profile I remember most vividly was the one with Grace Slick showing a breast with a can of Boy Howdy in her hand...Don't know why that one lingers in my memory...

ms. chick, i always look for that punk compilation when i go to the local cd store, but they never have it in. i really should order it from them, though... i could really use some good punk tunes. what i listened to today, for the most part... Weezer Green: 4/5 i've always loved this album, but it's losing its charm with me a little. i guess i've been looking for deeper messages in music lately, and this isn't the way to go for that. i still love "don't let go" and "photograph", though. i guess i'm stupid for being such a sap. i should jump off a bridge. Maladroit: 2/5 honestly, i'm sick of this album. i had to flip through the tracks by the time i hit "take control" because i was so bored. this record had an immediate impact with me... i felt a sense of urgency, a sense by the band to follow-up their recent commercial success with another decent pop record. but really, it's faded for me and it seems to have no direction. i love "december", though. again, i should jump off a bridge for being a sappy idiot. Revolver: infinity/5 ... musical perfection. my recent obsession is "here, there and everywhere". i should jump off a brid-- okay, you get the point by now.

Paperwork-day, made easier by listening to:
Jordan Rudess- Rhythm Of Time
The presence of guitarlegends like Vinnie Moore, Steve Morse and Steve Vai bodes well on this soloproject of the Dream Theater/Liquid Tension Experiment-keyboardist. Like Derek Sherinian's soloalbums, there's some great keyboard-rifferama but it offsets always nicely with a good guitar. The opener Time Crunch is what it's all about- rhythms in style with yer basic progrock-outfit- offbeat and a bass-in-your-face, the busy basics filled with riffs and solos and it sounds bloody wonderful...but if it only stayed that exciting. One very mediocre jazzy piece and two very dubious ballads with vocals derail the express-pace of the train which then comes crashing against a wall. Four great tracks, two lesser ones and three bad ones...damn, where's my LTE-discs?
Threshold- Subsurface
Yeah, fairly standard progrock, well done...but either I must have highered my standards on the genre or the band hasn't really 'prog'ressed...some of the riffs are bog standard one note straight rock, the production is fairly glossy with keyboards cementing any bit of breathing space shut, decent vocals, Karl Groom's a good guitarist and the solos fit nicely and choirs but....not a fucking dent in my memory as to the songs' capability to hang in there...
Johnny Cash- American Recordings
If Sinatra is The Voice, then Cash is The Storyteller. Great album.
The Blue Nile- High
Now playing....I can't get enough of this album!

Proud, it's a box set. I know they sell them at Best Buy where they keep the box sets.

Is this the greatest debut album ever? Change "greatest" to "most overrated" and yes

Presumably you'd instead vote for this then? I'm having a Madchester morning.

Is this the greatest debut album ever?
I'd place it top 10. No question.
Coming along with the Mondays btw Jesus. play my Mp3 version of Bummed every once in a while, further to your reco, and it's quite good. It's one I'll pick up in due course.

Didn't listen to a ton of stuff on the weekend; I mentioned Mir's 7 Directions over on CanCon. Also chanced across a used copy of that new Blue Nile disc, maarts. Didn't get to it till late last evening but based on one listen, I think this is one I'm going to playing alot.
