You want to talk about assholes, all you have to do is take a good look at your copy of that shitty album St. Anger to know who I am talking about.

Do you two communicate through the internet even though you live together?
Do you have two computers or does one person sign off so the other can sign on and respond to their post?

We have two computers, we both use our computers for online classes, and classes at the campus. We met online through rollingstone.com and yes we both post at this site just to aggravate the shit out of you. ;D

been gone awhile, i'm back. Um, thanx for the history lesson tweedle-dum & tweedle-dim, but i'm familiar already. Let me make this clear to you: Dimmu Borgir simply didn't do it for me. Old Man's Child -- ALL OMC -- does it for me. See, this has ZERO to do with commercialdom / "selling out" / etc . . .; rather, it has everything to do with Personal Taste. And my Personal Taste RECOILS at the insipid, synthesized, drippy string arranged greymetal of Dimmu Borgir. Yet my Personal Taste salivates at the clearly synthesized, operatic grandeur and shadowdrenched eeriness of Old Man's Child. Get it? It's a matter of personal opinion -- which means neither of us is "right" above or beyond the other -- we merely each have our own tastes.
Dig -? So get off your High Preachy Horse as if you're some kind of self-acknowledged "experts" in the field of blackmetal, and simply accept that I didn't care for your coveted Dimmu Borgir. It's okaaaaay . . . you'll survive.
*as if* I didn't know about burzum's synthed-prison term albums. I could listen to his casio-keyboard Doudi Balders album a thousand times before ever allowing myself to sit through one more Dimmu Borgir song . . . and that's just because I'm me, mm'kay?
My fave Burzum is Yvet Lyset Tar Oss -- that one is raw, primal, demonic . . . and ambient, all at once. Very nice.
On an interesting note. . . . you know that final track on that album 'tasia, the 15 minute long, quiet eerie instrumental track? I always pictured Frodo & Samwise treading slowly into the heart of MOrdor while listening to it . . . I always felt it was the ideal soundtrack to reading LOTR . . . this was way before the movies came out . . .and get this: It was even before I knew Burzum had anything to do with Tolkien! Hell yes, obviously the man has channeled Tolkien's spirit quite well if I was able to conjure up images of LOTR while first hearing it! After I learned he was all about JRR Tolkien, as you pointed out, my jaw just about dropped in astonishment.
In any case, I really love OMC's latest -- IN DEFIANCE OF EXISTANCE -- and I can say with confidence that it "does it for me" in ways that Dimmu's Euponia album could never do -- it doesn't mean one is better than the other, objectively.

"metal this" ; "metal that" ; 'tasia who gives a fuck. I like a lotta metal, a lot I hate. I like a lotta blackmetal; a lot I can't stand. I like some country music; most I can't tolerate. I like some deathmetal; a lot is garbage to my ears. I like korn; I hate linkin park. I love floyd & zep; I don't care for the Allman bros or Molly hatchet. That doesn't mean one is better than the other. I like green day; I don't like sum41. Although they did collaborate with Iggy on a great song! Well I like a lotta stuff; and there's a lotta stuff I don't like. But at least I can understand . . .and even appreciate that there is such a thing as "each to his own" -- something that, from reading all of your posts - & yer hubby's -- y'all don't seem to have the slightest clue or grasp of. That just means you are elitist. Hey, like I said, each to his own, right?

As for Metallica and Manson -- I like em both. Although I hate St. Anger, cuz it sux to these ears. I ain't about to bash Pissin for likin it, though. In fact I only wish I could see in it what he sees in it (or hears, rather). But I do RESPECT Metallica for who they ARE and who they WERE -- sure, they're not putting out the same shit when Cliff was alive, but so what. And Manson -- although his band was never as instrumentally talented as, say, Rage Against The Machine or Korn, I still like most of his music, for what it is.
I'm not saying you have to like it. I'm just suggesting you should maybe look into other peoples opinions for once, for shits & giggles. But whatever floats yer boats. *big fat indifferent shrug*

Manson's guitarist is talented as hell, but he left. That dumb fuck. Most people don't release this though, because he doesn't show off on Manson records (much like Korn) and play crazy power metal solos and stuff.
Maybe if Metallica sang more about dragons and excalibur swords they'd be more metal?
Whatever. Metallica have always been different. They've always had the blues and hard rock and country and thrash and all kind of shit in them. Yall shoulda seen the changes comin'. The whole thing amuses me actually.
And don't be talkin shit on Taco Bell.
