"Maybe if Metallica sang more about dragons and excalibur swords they'd be more metal?" -- LoL
I"m going to write a song for Ronnie James, right here, right now, on the spot (You must imagine the Dio-ness of the accompanied music) : "Stand up to the Light! And you will see where it is that I roam, If you wanna get it right, You have to look in between the foam
That rages on the sea come crashing in on my throne To gaze past infinity -- and see reflected back your mask of bone!
*chorus*:
Hail hail we are well, my Children of the Night! Let them all think we're hellbound, cuz they'll never ever get it right!
*power chord + wicked lead*
And so you can follow in our wake! Or you can stay frozen in your sleep! Because the thing we'll never take! Is drowning in the deep!
*chorus*
Hail hail we are well, my Children of the Night! Let them all think we're hellbound, cuz they'll never ever get it right!"
etc

I will admit St. Anger would have been a hell of a lot better with solos. Kirk has actually fiddled around and added some in concert. And also better without the ping, though it really doesn't bother me as much as most people.

did you really write that? Yep; just now, in fact. Right off the top o' me head. Think Dio could use a stand-in? *blows on fingernails* hehehe

I think you would make a great dragonslayer in Dio's army of darkness.

*eyes Pissin suspiciously* I don't know whether to take that as a compliment or not . . .

This absolutely makes no sense you fucking moron. There is virtually NO DIFFERENCE between OMC and Dimmu Borgir. Thats why DIMMU BORGIR were an INFLUENCE on OMC. Get the picture?

BTW Thorny, too little too late to really debate this since you waited so long to finally reply back. I have been over with this for sometime. So I will simply go back to how it was before you made your tawdry and rather empty post.

Do Dimmu Borgir sound anything like Modest Mouse? If memory serves, Sony was courting both bands at around the same time, but opted for MM since they felt they might have a bit more potential for a hit.

Hmm, I always thought Dimmu Borgir had that Japanese retro-pop thing going, a la Mayumi Kojima, Ego Wrappin', Gymnopedie etc.

Right you are Ryo. I always get my black metal and retro Japanese pop bands confused. Sorry about that.

Hey, no problem, we all make mistakes. Speaking of Ego Wrappin' Merry Merry - Ego Wrappin' I'm starting to realize that this record isn't good as I initially thought it was. The novelty of a retro-Japanese pop/jazz group going into a new wave/dub direction and doing a Nick Lowe cover is wearing off pretty quickly, and I'm prepared to harbor the same kind of lukewarm feeling I've had for them since they were hailed as the Next Big Thing a few years back. Man, I wish I had someone who I could bounce these kinds of thoughts on Japanese music off of, like how maarts and Scottsy have each other for Australian music, or Riley and Drum for Canadian music. I'm going to vent my frustration by blurting out random dirty Japanese words. Chinko. Manko. Kintama. Paizuri. Shojomaku. There, I feel better now.

Aside from manko, what do those mean? I'm having such a bad day, and I would derive great pleasure in learning some new bad words.
NP: Smashing Pumpkins, Siamese Dream ("Silverfuck", because any other song on this album would make me cry I'm having such a bad day.)
