Even though I don't think this band counts, they are considered melodic death metal. I am listening to Damage Done by Dark Tranquility.

As much as I've heard about Interpol around these parts I'm interested in buying them. According to RS.com their latest release is the best. Which one would you guys recommend I go with first?
NP: Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness(song: Cupid de Locke)

That was their best work? In that case, what does their worst sound like? farting on the snare drum perhaps?

Coffinfodder,
God love you, but from all I've seen of you, you seem to be the most negative poster I've come across. Don't be a troll, dude.

I am not a troll, I am a human. Excuse me if I don't hold a shitty garage type band that high on my list of choices of music. I find that all this shit proves 2 things. You can sell millions of albums to morons and any shitwad of a band can be signed.

Would that "any shitwad of a band can be signed" statement apply to every frickin' death metal band there is? I think so and don't think I would have a hard time finding people to back me up on that one. Btw, I was wondering when you would post SOMETHING, ANYTHING that went along with the title of this board.
Hint, hint

I see the hypocrisy is still all and well on the boards.

I am positively sure that death metal sucks fucking ass. Thats why I don't listen to that bullshit. But if I was forced to choose between Interpol and Mortician, I would take Mortician hands down. Mainly because I know in between the incoherent parts I will hear a few horror movie quotes.

You can sell millions of albums to morons and any shitwad of a band can be signed. Interpol don't sell millions. Their first - and best, imo, to answer Melon's question - album, Turn On The Bright Lights never shifted more than 6,400 copies in any single week, largely on word of mouth. Antics sold about 61,000 in its first week, and is projected to eventually sell about 300,000 copies. Secondly, they're not a "garage" band, or anything like. They're a post-punk band if anything. Maybe CF is confusing them with the White Stripes? I dunno if you'd like them Melon, but maybe you would come to think of it. Stipe loves 'em, and a song like "NYC" was an obvious one for REM to cover live as they did. Sonically the guitars sometimes come off like earlyish U2, with lots of reverb and delay; I get that same tonal feel occasionally that you'd find on a song like The Unforgettable Fire, for instance. But vocally we're in Joy Division territory here, with a sombre baritone as far removed from Corgan and Yorke (to name two of your other heroes) as you could get.

CoffinFodder - In all honesty, I doubt that the people here really care what you think anymore than you care what everyone else thinks...
I've been listening to Answer by Supercar quite a bit again lately, and I'm starting to entertain the possibility, that this, not Futurama, might be their best album to date. Which is kind of hard for me to admit, as I've committed myself ever since I heard Futurama nearly 4 years ago to the theory that they can't possibly top a record of this caliber. But the fewer song count is working in Answer's favor (Futurama, admittedly, had a few fillers) and the funkier, more psychedelic (listen to the crazy violins on "The World Is Naked" courtesy of that dude from Rovo) sound is really starting to win me over.
Speaking of Supercar, maarts, whatever happened to that plan to import copies of Futurama to your store? Although I wouldn't be surprised if the figures prevented it from being feasible (CDs are fucking expensive over here).

Haven't listened to Exciter much, might give it another try.
Black Celebration is suppose to be pretty good too.

*Newsflash*
It appears that rollingstone.com will no longer have Message Boards. "Community" is no longer listed on the website. It went from "Message Boards Return: This Summer" to "New Message Boards: Coming Soon" and now there is no "Community" listed at all. Maybe they just didn't feel like tolerating trolls any longer or didn't expect right-wingers such as myself to ever get on the boards. But the Message Boards could return, I suppose. Just because there isn't a button for them now doesn't mean there won't be later, I guess. ANYhow, these boards are much better anyway. Thanks again, strat-o.
