The reason rs shut down their boards is because they didn't want Republicans posting on them. That magazine has turned into the liberal encyclopedia. np: Book of Thel - Bruce Dickinson

Interpol don't sell millions. Their first - and best, imo, to answer Melon's question - album, Turn On The Bright Lights never shifted more than 6,400 copies in any single week, largely on word of mouth. Antics sold about 61,000 in its first week, and is projected to eventually sell about 300,000 copies. Secondly, they're not a "garage" band, or anything like. They're a post-punk band if anything. Maybe CF is confusing them with the White Stripes? I dunno if you'd like them Melon, but maybe you would come to think of it. Stipe loves 'em, and a song like "NYC" was an obvious one for REM to cover live as they did. Sonically the guitars sometimes come off like earlyish U2, with lots of reverb and delay; I get that same tonal feel occasionally that you'd find on a song like The Unforgettable Fire, for instance. But vocally we're in Joy Division territory here, with a sombre baritone as far removed from Corgan and Yorke (to name two of your other heroes) as you could get. Whatever their bullshit was, it sounded so bad that it might as well have been recorded in a garage.

*Newsflash* It appears that rollingstone.com will no longer have Message Boards. "Community" is no longer listed on the website. It went from "Message Boards Return: This Summer" to "New Message Boards: Coming Soon" and now there is no "Community" listed at all. Maybe they just didn't feel like tolerating trolls any longer or didn't expect right-wingers such as myself to ever get on the boards. But the Message Boards could return, I suppose. Just because there isn't a button for them now doesn't mean there won't be later, I guess. ANYhow, these boards are much better anyway. Thanks again, strat-o. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaahaahahahaahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, fucking pussies

Well I think Hell froze over. They actually played Nightwish on the ball tonight. I was just saying they should change the name of the show to Headbangersbald. ;D
