I disagree with a good portion of what you've written about Waters-era Floyd, Rit, but I will attest that it's entertaining reading. You should check out Mark Prindle's record review site. He can be as vicous as you but it doesn't matter if he's trashing your favorite record, he's always a fun read. (Chuck Klosterman is like that, too). You are a tad too harsh, though, I think, on the post-Barrett Floyd, and you seem to be a bit TOO convinced of the righteousness of your opinions.

After all, just like most (but not all) bands, they had a taste of success and wound up hating each other "fuck Wright! Forget gilmour!" (Ive read the books as well) Its all about the money to the brand name Pink Floyd in the end. Publishing rights.
Will I be wallowing in desperation if I am not successful in a music career making songs no one but my closest friends will hear? Will I be hanging on someones star if I get a job and work to feed my family?

By the way--if all you you have not seen it--pick up Pink Floyd in Pompeii.

Rit, you probably think Bill Wyman is the scum of the earth, eh? Maybe, old chap, maybe, but just listen to those funky bass lines in "Miss You". By the same token, some of the most inventive stuff on Dark Side of the Moon is Richard Wright's handiwork. Slag him all you want, he was an essential ingredient in an album that remained on the Billboard charts longer than any other...and I would underscore the word ESSENTIAL. Without his contribution to that album I daresay it would not have been the classic history has proven it to be. Plus, who can blame the guy for not hanging with Syd? I'm sure the added drama of dealing with Barrett's drug-induced psychosis would have proven to be of no benefit not only to Wright's musical ambitions but would also have been an unbearable & unnecessary burden on his personal life as well. Trust me...psychos are high-maintenance. You probably root for Pete Best and bemoan the decision to replace him with that Ringo feller, too, eh? Methinks you romanticize the fringes a bits.

& JAC, i'm a severe judgementalist, like that old guy in that famous book... what was it again? oh yeah, the Old Testament ;D
just kidding around, no offence implied. i dunno, i can't stand mundane rock these days. I'm getting old, i suppose. 25 years old already. good God. seems like not so long ago i thought Jim Morrison was a'ight, and MacDonalds was food fit for a prince.

Yer getting cynical. Turn back. Turn back. Take it from your elders. It's no good. It may even be the most realistic viewpoint, but it's no good. Better to hide in the pages of Terry Goodkind novels than to succumb to it. That Guy in the Old Testament can be as judgemental as He wants. It's His toybox, after all.

i'm not cynical. at least, i'm not trying to be consciously so...
i prefer to think that i've finally achieved a highly mobile sense of equilibrium, constantly rolling on my toes, and i can see clearly into the hearts of things, and judge them for their inner worth. i'm not wise enough to judge on worth, moreso just nod and grin when i see humanity in the thing.
or maybe not yet. perhaps i never will..

If you realized you were hallucinating it would kill the effect and you wouldn't really be hallucinating anymore, would you? I like it when you call me "holmes".
