These aren't exactly underground bands here. They have all been succesful as far as selling albums and popularity has gone. But none of these bands has ever garnered critical acclaim from both the masses and the critics. Most of these bands will never make the rock n roll hall of fame either. So who is most deserving of all the acclaim and why? What band has not gotten the props that they deserve? Pick your band and explain why, also explain why that band deserves it more than the other bands in the poll. If you have never heard more than 3 songs from ANY of the bands listed then please don't vote cause you're a fucking idiots and have no right voting on something you know little about. Go at it!

I'm voting for the Cars ... I'll explain why later ... or better yet, go listen to their debut album. Hell, just listen to My Best Friend's Girl. That should make it all clear.

I went with STP. I know I'm gonna get some shit for it, but I'm a '90s kid, and dammit, I fucking love them still.

I went with The Cars too. Not so much for shit like "Drive", but pretty much everything before Heartbeat City stands on its own as being as original and interesting as most of the other new wave stuff that got more attention.

Yeah, I’d have to go with The Cars as well.
Bet you that the HOF will eventually induct everyone on that list, BTW, except Sublime, STP and possibly Alice in Chains.

The Cars ~ Anthology Bought myself this puppy a few weeks ago and I'm thoroughly enjoying it ... The Cars would have been more popular if Talking Head and The Police had not been in the portrait during the same period ... And thanks to The Cars I'm so glad not to be a "Fuckin Idiot" ... But I also know more than 3 Eagles' songs ! Hummmmmmm...

In critical music circles the Eagles might be underated because everyone knows they suck. Everywhere else they're actually overated.
I have a recurring dream where I punch Timothy B. Scmidt in the face repeatedly when he sings the really high parts on "I Can't Tell You Why". Joe Walsh laughs everytime. Both parts make the dream worthwhile.

I'm with STP. Behind the Smashing Pumpkins, they're easily my favorite 90s band. Core sounds absolutely nothing like Pearl Jam, and never did. In my eyes, they hold just as significant a role in that scene as anyone from Seattle, and they outlived all but PJ.
I had a pretty good write-up of them in my old RS profile...
Oh, and the Eagles will always fucking suck.

STP is also hands down one of the finest live bands I've ever seen. Unbelievable.
Personally I love nearly everything they did, but I'd think that even non-fans would be able to recognize at least how good of a singles band they were. Seriously, how much worse would '90s alternative radio been without: Sex Type Thing Plush Creep Wicked Garden Vasoline Big Empty Interstate Love Song Unglued Big Bang Baby Trippin' On a Hole in a Paper Heart Lady Picture Show Down Sour Girl Days of the Week Hollywood Bitch
Seriously, other than early Pearl Jam, STP has got to be the best singles band of the '90s (and I'm just being concilliatory here--I actually prefer STP).
They have a ton of great album cuts too (I'd take "Atlanta", "Wonderful", "Still Remains", "Piece of Pie", etc. over must stuff).
Yeah, I know they don't have too much indie cred or anything, but I loves me the Stone Temple Pilots.

Oh, and although Alice in Chains is one of my least favorite bands on that list, I think that they, more than anyone else on there, do deserve to be in the RnR HOF.

I gotta agree with Rocky about STP as a great singles band. Maybe the last great rock and roll singles band (as of now, anyway).
As for HoF votes ... hmmm, there are lots of bands I'd put in there before any of these. The Jam, for starters, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, Lou Reed all by himself (I don't think he's in there as a solo artist, though I could be wrong), Stevie Ray Vaughan ... and of course such STP contemporaries as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and (I can't believe I'm typing this) Radiohead.

Nope, Lou isn't in there solo. Hell, it took forever for the VU to even get in there.
Oh, and I do think there are plenty of HoF worthy bands ahead of Alice in Chains. But of the bands in this poll, I think that AIC is quite deserving. Of course it'll be a while before they're eligible.
