I’m 43 – definitely old enough that I got Floyd first hand as it were. So maybe it’s not so much that you had to be there, as that part of you had to not want to leave. Seriously though, in this case it just comes down to the records. I actually like DSOTM well enough but with songs like "Let Down", "Lucky", "No Surprises", "Paranoid Android", etc, OKC completely trumps it.

Say what you want but seeing Pink Floyd live playing ECHOES during the Meddle tour in a small venue back in 1971 was a life changing experience ... !!

No WAY does Floyd suck....
....seeing Pink Floyd live playing ECHOES during the Meddle tour in a small venue back in 1971 was a life changing experience ... !!
Same as me having seen Pink Floyd tour the inCREDible Animals album, along with 94,999 other people at Soldiers Field in Chicago in 1977!!
They had a friggin' football game at that place yesterday.

Ugh......give me Pink Floyd any day over the bloated corpse of those awful morons in Radiohead. Why hasn't this band broken up yet?

My entire radiohead cd collection is dead in the water. (I could trade every last one of em in for cash and probably have my mood improved) Couldn't say the same for Pink Floyd's music (which I consider timeless).

Nah, I think I'm just getting a little more confident in my opinions on some music these days.
I'm actually in a better mood today that I have been in a long time.

I saw Pink Floyd in '94...they played all of DSOTM. A friend bought the tickets for our graduation and even paid for a limo to take us there. It stands as one of the least memorable shows I've ever been to. If not for the limo, a giant light up dome thing and the knowledge that they play all of DSOTM I don't remeber anything about it. No, I didn't do any drugs...had I it could've only helped honestly.

Q: DED, did you see that '94 Floyd show outdoors or indoors?
Momentary Lapse, right?

"by any means" is not only Right-O Mantis, but I'm afraid I'll have to state that I'm not in the least bit surprised at your reaction to that tour, especially out doors. I saw that one myself, and by that time, imo, the "Floyd" were more of a "Machine"-like metronome, crankin out all the songs in the same 4/4 rhythm . . .it was rather ponderous, and simply lacked the epic scale & superb, lucid sound system on full display (indoors) on the Momentary Lapse Tour. NOt even Roger's solo shows (which were always quite good, "stellar", even) could compare with the immensity of sonic genius that hit the audience like a tsunami in '86 when Tony Levin took up Roger's bass onstage . . . *words fail*

Radiohead are, in my mind, the greatest band of their generation and OKC was (quite rightly) voted the Greatest Album of all Time by the general public of Great Britain only last year.
