[glow=red,2,300]whispers into ken's ear[/glow] Don't go changing, to try and please me You never let me down before Don't imagine you're too familiar And I don't see you anymore I wouldn't leave you in times of trouble We never could have come this far I took the good times, I'll take the bad times I'll take you just the way you are Don't go trying some new fashion Don't change the color of your hair You always have my unspoken passion Although I might not seem to care I don't want clever conversation I never want to work that hard I just want someone that I can talk to I want you just the way you are. I need to know that you will always be The same old someone that I knew What will it take till you believe in me The way that I believe in you. I said I love you and that's forever And this I promise from the heart I could not love you any better I love you just the way you are.

Life in the Fast Lane had at least three things going for it: 1.) Henley sang it, without any annoying adnoidal harmonies from the rest of the band, which means the vocal line at least sounds good; 2.) It had some sort of topical relevance at the time; 3.) It had a catchy riff, and at least a semblance of real rock and roll energy (as opposed to the sleep-inducing drone of Seven Bridges Road). It's so much fun to write shite about a band then it is to praise someone ... I can see why the British magazines always turn so quickly on the latest flavour of the week ... it's just more fun to build someone up and then knock 'em down. Though in this case, it's like shooting ducks (or maybe that should be "eagles") in a barrel.

I forgot to add that if I had to pick the absolute worst Eagles song(and there's plenty of terrible ones) I think that's the absolute worst. Sorry.

"Runaway" - Del Shannon "Lightnin' Strikes" - Lou Christie "Crimson and Clover" - Tommy James and "Ohio" ...
Don't know how I missed these gems. I wanted to include "Dream On," but then I saw something on TV about Aerosmith and they pissed me off. U2 almost missed the list for the same reason.
tunes - Kudos on the bubbling under nod to Malkmus.
and two more great lists. Looks like "London Calling" may be the highest ranking so far. At a glance, anyway.

Oh man, some Eagles talk and I missed it...Now there is a band that I just really don't like. The first thing that comes to mind when I think the Eagles is that they are the ultimate meh band. I don't listen to them enough to even care about them, they are just about as average as average gets. The thing that pisses me off about them is they come off as actually taking themselves seriously, I guess a bit arrogant, but they really shouldn't cause they're just not that good. Anywho, for fun here are 5 Eagles songs I can somewhat tolorate: Can you name five? (it may not be as easy as you think) 1. Take It Easy 2. Tequila Sunrise 3. Life In the Fast Lane 4. Life Goes On (maybe that's Joe Walsh, but the Eagles did it enough for it to count) 5. Long Run
Really I just think a discussion about the Eagles has some sort of weird humor to it, can't really explain it I suppose.
