Wishful Thinking is lovely ... but the live version is better.
Well, I'm gonna go turn on the Colbert Report and try to fall asleep. Good thing I've got a pretty empty schedule the next two days ... after all the excitement earlier this week (had to prep for a jury trial, which got bumped at 11:00 a.m. after we'd been waiting for 2.5 hours for the judge to decide which case to take to trial ... maybe next time ...) it's nice to be able to get things more back to normal.

Surprised I never asked this before, Ken, but what sort of law do you focus on primarily?
Anyway, I finally got a fucking job today, so as of a few weeks from now I can actually go out and have fun and really enjoy being in Chicago. Oh...and maybe even buy the new Neko Case and Loose Fur CDs on the day they come out this month. Huzzah!

OR "Hell Is Chrome"

I think I've spent enough time with "Hell is Chrome" by now that, if it was going to become a favorite of mine, it probably would have by now.
That being said, it's definately one of my favorite guitar solos of theirs. That solo punches me in the gut every time. I think the solo conveys way more feeling and emotion than the lyrics do in that song.
And it definately was a highlight of the last few live shows of theirs I saw...but mostly for that solo...I dunno.

So glad you mentioned that Rocky. One of my favorite solos of all time. Definitely my favorite by Wilco.

It's an incredibly simple solo...really not much to it. But they're all just the right notes. And the vibrato that is used would be excessive in most songs, but for some reason works just right for that one. It's really a perfect solo from front to back.

Congrats on the job, Rocky. Now get that Neko ticket for crying out loud.

I envision AGIB as anti-whank whank. You know, the good kind of whank.

By the way, I considered voting for A Ghost is Born; I just can't decide between YHF and the former. I know, though, that YHF is a far better album. I just love AGIB. Time and place, time and place...sentimental value...all that riff-raff.

I'm really surpised Being There didn't get a few more votes...it's still obvious that Summerteeth is the best album but still...

Yeah, I thought it would win and Rocky thought YHF would win. Looks like we were both wrong.....or both right. The cup is half full, I guess.

i get a very warm and inviting feel from the production of AGIB. just the dynamic range on that disc, as compared to all of the over-compressed, hard-limited mastering of most cd's today is a refreshing change.
