I figured nobody would vote for "Since I've Been Loving You" because of the wankery factor. Oh well, guess we can thank Ken for that one. "Ten Years Gone" in the LEAD!!!! YES!

Heard anything lately about the new Lemonheads release? I think it's got potential, if Baby, I'm Bored was any indicator. I love that album. I know the band is Evan with Bill and Karl from the Descendents...that could be pretty interesting. I think I read were Bill Stevenson said they were finished recording but I haven't heard a release date.

I was hoping that everyone would have by now learned to IGnore the '2 minutes is the perfect song-length' crowd by now...especially when the lot of them have the most broad interpretation for what 'wankery' is. The '2-minutes-and-OUT'-song is over-rated! Here, definitely.THERE, I said it!

I'm currently listening to a sixteen minute version of Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out ... But when it comes to Led Zep, you're right, two minutes is waaaaaaaay too much. There's no reason to listen to Zepellin any longer than it takes to change the radio station.

Don't confuse me by telling me about 10th Avenue Freezeout...you still don't know shit about 'wankery', ha! ;D
~
The PBS station here had the Bruce @ Hammersmith show on, on Saturday night....the version there of She's The One was just impossibly good. Gave me the friggin goosebumps...and the way Bittan POUNDED the keys, AI!
And it was a short song!

I love Black Dog though. If you sing that to a woman, she might well marry you the next morning. It's becuase it's impossible to sing that song without looking like a complete ponce and women like it when you debase yourself like that. You know too much...

But it has very little to do with what I like or don't like...there is a very logical process to it. I'm a really big Lemonheads fan but you're never going to see me go on about how great they are becuase I know it's pruely a personal thing. They never had any great impact on music and I'm fine with that. Where as I can freely admit I band I hate, The Doors, have their place in history. In fact the problem comes in when people can't remove their personal tastes from the discussion. Of course as with everything else there will be some biases but it's all about have some grasp on historical perspective. But you know, I started out on the RS boards having this very same argument with louee. The claim to subjectivity is really just an excuse for intellectual laziness, in my opinion. I agree with every word you posted. The Velvets are overrated (but at some point, everything good runs the risk of being killed by hype). But I love, LOVE White Light, White Heat. I don't even think it's that ground breaking. But I really do like hearing a band completely lose their shit like they do on "Sister Ray." I still don't think you can overrate Pet Sounds on production level.

The Doors or Zeppelin?

Both ! An endless loop of "Light My Fire" and "Stairway to Heavens" ... !! ;D That would be a fun reality show...Ken has to listen to these 2 songs all day (24 hrs) on his iPod, and go about his day to day business; I'd watch.

ROTFLMMFAO! I don't think I'd make it through the second loop ... hell, might not make it through the FIRST loop! Honestly, (I think) the Doors bug me more than Zep. For one thing, Page, Jones, and Bonham could at least play rock and roll. It's hippie-shit wankery all too often, and Plant's vocals absolutely bug the hell out of me, but at least it's rock and roll. The Doors are just shite, with absolutely no redeeming qualities. But I will say this, the Doors influenced more good bands than Led Zep did. But if I have to listen to one or the other, it would (probably) have to be Zep. But if given the choice, I'll take nails on a chalkboard over either.
