Thank you, maarts, for getting Huey Lewis stuck in my head. "What the World Needs Now" is the best Cracker song. Well, except for "Euro Trash Girl." I saw Cracker with literally about ten other people in a bar a few years back. It was great. They were good sports about the lack of crowd and took tons of requests from us and played for a good while. ... My wife smoked pot with the Toadies and played on their drum set.

"Euro Trash Girl" is a fuckin' great song with one of those drunken feels to it! couple albums that pop to mind at the moment: The Waterboys - "This Is The Sea" critically acclaimed but did the band end up seemingly to matter much at large?? I mean I love Scott & Co. (esp this album) but to what effect did they shake up the music world? Blue Oyster Cult - "Tyranny & Mutation" ok,,,,that one probably goes too far back 'in the day'....

and that album 'This Is The Sea', but damn, I think it's their best, even better than Fisherman's Blues

and that album 'This Is The Sea', but damn, I think it's their best, even better than Fisherman's Blues I so totally agree 100% with this (will say that "Fisherman's Blues" is a needed buy as well in its own right --- fuckin' great album there too). I think my posting above would have better fit on a board of 'CDs passed over by the mainstream' or something. Guess my thought at the moment was here are a couple of albums that most don't even seem to think about. Now,,,,in a lighter sense of mood: 707 s/tMy all-time faceless rock guitly pleasure! Smart and sharp with some blazing guitar runs lighting up things, this debut kicks ass all over the Journey's, Styx's, etc. of the turn of the 80's and there's just something enduring about the release. "I Could Be Good For You" was a bit of a radio hit in the Michigan area but that was about it. Trouble Psalm 9Chicago band that barely gets a nod now & then but Psalm 9 is a ripping listen. Compared to early Sabbath, I more liken them to a doomier Judas Priest. hey, they're a Metal Blade band!

Tyrannies & Mutation going too far back? Uh, nofuckingway! NP: The inestimable Tonio K! Ever since 'The Ballad Of The Night The Clocks All Quit And The Government Failed', I love this guy! The only other person I've 'met' who appreciated this guy was Foofoo The Snoo...

Tonio K's the kinda person who'll pull everyone's chain on all the facts.
I think he doesn't give any sort of a damn over 'Yugoslavia' and authenticity...I mean c'mon, 'Love Songs & War Dances' from the rest of the Balkans and then call it Yugoslavia.
The guy's a goof.

Ayinger: Trouble, huh? Never heard em, but I have been listening to these guys lately: Pentagram "Review Your Choices" (2004) This band hails from Virginia, and have been around for 35 years. That's right: they formed in 1971. Think Black Sabbath fronted by a wicked evil Robert Plant, & you're gettin warmer. . . . Heavy ass band, here. w/a classic post 70's groove. File under kickass. Worth checkin' out.

Oh yeah I've got some old Pentagram...they reissued earlier this year some they prime 70's stuff: If you dug on their sound Thorny, you've GOT to get that Trouble disc. Thicker drones than anything found on Sab Vol. 4 and a total kickass version of Cream's "Tales Of Brave Ulysses" at its end. PLUS the just released remastered disc I saw on Sunday had an extra DVD with it with tons of concert footage....all for like $18.
