If you find streaming or downloadable clips/tracks for a cool new Canuck band or an old favorite, post them here.

This guy sits nicely alongside Wintersleep here in town. Went to his CD release party, and he just screams potential. Click the "music" link. There are four streaming tracks. "Yellow Raincoat" is wonderful. www.jonmckiel.com/home.html

This is an old video by The Burdocks. They're on hiatus at the moment. When I hear them, I think it's a shame they missed the Hali heydays about 10-12 years before their time. So much respect for the city's core sound. They've gotten much more focused musically since "Triage", but it's a frantic little alt gem. The video matches the music ladscape perfectly in its quirky yet sad thematics. Takes a minute to load in WM format. www.theburdocks.com/video/triage.avi

Cool idea! Check out the new emmgryner.com. Click on the "listen" link in the top left hand corner and you can hear a couple of cuts off her new one plus a selection of older stuff.

Man I forgot what great songs "Summerlong" and "Beautiful Things" were. Think I've been neglect in my Gryner listening duties.
"Girls Are Murder" sounds quite good.

I think I'm missing the gene required to properly appreciate Raising the Fawn. I don't know what it is - they technically sound like something I should like, but nothing I've heard from them has done much for me. I dig that Cuff the Duke video a lot. I really need to get that album. It's sort of weird how I went from absolutely hating them the first time I saw them a few years ago with Nick Cave to loving them the second time I saw them. Pretty sure I developed a huge crush on the singer at that show too. Doc, the new Emm stuff sounds fantastic - and just read what it said about preordering through the site. Definitely keeping an eye out for that. And how is it possible for her to be so damn cute?

if you're missing the Broken Social Scene gene, it's natural the Rasing The Fawn gene may be absent as well.

Yeah, I love "Girls Are Murder". Album is getting mixed reviews in the one place it's already out (Ireland, of all places) but I can't wait! Not out here until September, though.

But I'm trying on the BSS thing, I really am - I even bought one of their albums a couple weeks ago for crying out loud! Not that I've listened to it, but... That album's already out in Ireland, Doc? Explains why she's doing so much touring there right now I guess. She's back in my neck of the woods (Guelph) a week from Saturday - at the Youth Music Centre with some guy I've never heard of. But tickets are only $10 so I might try to make it there...

Doc - what do you think of In Flight Safety. I think we saw them open for The Cons and Wintersleep. I like this song/video, and I enjoy the new album enough, but I can't help but wonder if Halifax needed a band that sounded that much like Coldplay.
