;D..hi one and all..glad to be back!!..well Mary I have been on a serious lack-of-record-purchasing track this year..but I can now say my 4 purchases last week are all great!!...my fave by far is the newest Modest Mouse......I haven't listened to a CD in its entirety that has so enthused me in quite awhile..next is the best of Guided by Voices...great great stuff......quirky melodicism with lyrics that don't always makes sense.....then it's a tie between the new Patti Smith and the new Beta Band...I need more time to listen to both of those.......'
And bear, I heard a song by Fernando Gonzales, and indeed they sound like the STrokes..think I'll pass....

Oh bow...you clearly weren't a history major. Franz Ferdinand are named after the Archduke whose assassination sparked WWI. Even I knew that. ~PunkChick

....hey you clueless lot....I was joking!!....of course I know Fernando Gonzalez was a rookie phenom with the LA dodgers.....I was cracking a joke given my plethora of bowiglouisms.....but of course it's great to be back.......................
My heavens, you all need a class on irony...you know, like that song from Alanis Morissette........
and as for my history, the problem is I've read a bit of it and cant' remember dwiddle-dwat.....now, give me a mathematical formula I do a pretty good job of retaining that information...but ask me the exact year of the civil war and I'm clueless........in fact, history was the first class where I was caught red-handed cheating........
...I did not include that in my vitae...............
Thought: why aren't Guided by Voices played on all the radio stations?...I'm in rapt with this 33-song best of, all the songs are melodic, slightly left of center, intriguing, challenging, and accesible.....................in lieu fo that we get Jessica simpson.......or Fernando Strokes.....go figger.....

Bought the new Muse tonight. I think it's ok, i see some citings for Radiohead influence at All Music, but this guy has one of those JBuckley influenced sounding voices, pretty good, not the original of course. But I like the music, think they should rely a little less on guitar trickery soundfx just for there sound. But i might change my mind about that.

Oh yeah bought the new Streets album, i'll like it I know. Some people can't stand his voice, i can - i like it.
I also bought a 2 Disc Essential Byrds which i'm very pumped about, the bass player sounds bad ass as hell.

My most recent purchase was the Double-Disc release from KATATONIA, Brave New Yesterdays. It is a compilation of all their EPs released throughout the years, w/bonus tracks. If you're into OPETH at all, KATATONIA is a real good appetizer before feasting on the dark, classical brilliance we have come to know & love as OPETH. KATATONIA are a bit more basic sounding, but feature a truly epic-minded guitarist who can emote beautiful lamentations to the stormier winter skies of the desolated mind. Truly an excellent find for me, and another cherished Swedish band joins the ranks of my fanaticism. www.geocities.com/tiamatica/katatonia1.gif[/img]

anyone bought the newest Loretta Lynn/Jack White that's getting a bit of press?...I heard one song this morning, and though I'm no huge country or white stripes fan it was a great song................

I am really anxious to hear the Lynn/White collaborations. I have a feeling it's going to be really good.
Recently saw a Franz Ferdinand Video for the first time. "I'm Really Stuck On You" or somesuch blehness. I'm not feelin' it.
