As the one using the words Syd Barrett and naffness in the same sentence in regards to the Pearls Before Swine-track I put up...I don't regret that quote.
If people want to deify Barrett so be it, but I am just not a fan.
Just my opinion.

I'm not "deifying" Syd Barrett. Not in the least. But I'd hate to hear someone say that my father, who passed in '99, was "taking a dirt napp". I would most definitely consider that to be disrespectful, and I have no doubt that others here would feel exactly the same. Fuck, I'd get pissed if someone said that about the dog I just buried in my back yard...why wouldn't I feel the same about a human being? So what if I didn't know him personally and was only aware of his existence through the art with which he chose to represent himself? "Dirt Napp"  Come on, now. Joke or no joke, funny or (in this case) unfunny, it should be apparent to anyone that it is a disrespectful term, and Doc knew that or he wouldn't have asked "...would that be disrespectful?" Yeah, sure, Doc. You really felt like it was necessary to ask? I must have given you much more credit for being intelligent than you deserved. At any rate...he asked, I answered. There's nothing more to it. I don't think anyone implied anything that would set up this "joke". Words in a sentence, two names in a post...none of that really factors into the context in which the "joke" was made.
