Eldest Son got his 5 strings Black Beauty yesterday Find out there's a 9 volt battery hidden in the back and he has no clue what the hell it is for ...
I mean, this is no flashlight and the thing sure aint a vibrator !!
Tell the kid to go search the company web site but he tells me there is no explanation to be had...
Father goes on the same web site and see this bass has an "active 3-band eq. system".
Mystery solved thanks to dad once again ...

I guess dads come in handy once in a while (again)! Lots of guitars and basses have built-in compressors, phase shifters, eq's, and the like, which use 9v batteries. It's just like a pedal, only built in.
How's he loving it?

EQ can be so important in getting a good sound out a bass; it's really a good feature to have built in.

I just popped into Cornerband.com for the hell of it and was pleasantly surprised! Haven't checked in there in about a year - since DNA has been on hiatus, and I know nobody else from the band has. Cornerband is a site where 'emerging' and local bands from around the world upload tunes for others to download or listen to and rate. They have all types of genres and they list charts for the top 200 songs and bands in each. I have three songs uploaded. Here are the current standings: Pop band - #21, DNA Rock band - #44, DNA All genres - #133, DNA Rock music - #11, Sleeper (live), DNAPop music - #41, Daydreams, DNA; #42, Southside DNA All genres - #41, SleeperDNA *** Streams: Sleeper 187 Daydreams 350 Southside 408 Listeners can set up their own playlists, or listen randomly by genre at the site. They feed to several online radio stations, and the charts determine plays. So I guess DNA is being heard somewhere out there. Clicker is #4 prog rock band. www.cornerband.com/

Strat ~ Eldest Son bass makes a loud noise every time he plugs the wire in the jack ...
Still works fine after that !!
Any thought about what could cause the problem ??

That's not a "problem". That's just what happens when you plug a cord that's already plugged into an amplifier into the instrument. You should always plug the cord into the bass first and THEN plug the other end of the cord into the amp. And it's a good idea to make sure the bass volume pot is all the way down when you do this.

Yep. It might make a noise even if you do the amp last, hence turning the guitar volume knob down. Many amps have a "standby" position on the switch (especially tube-type amps), which is very handy for this.

That's what I thought but since I'm no expert in electric guitar I wanted to make sure before taking that thing back to the shop !
Thanks a lot guys ! I'll make sure Eldest Son read this ...
