I guess no one really posts on this board, but I thought I`d mention that I have recently completed my second LP. All recorded, mixed and sampled by me. I had three tracks mastered and sent to some bigger labels (fingers crossed). Descriptions always create expectations and expectations usually ruin new music, but I`ll say that it is INFLUENCED by the likes of (old) Sigur Ros, Modest Mouse, Boards of Canada, M83 and My Bloody Valentine. If anyone would like to hear it, let me know.

Good luck with the record, Andrew. Are you looking to place the tunes or to get signed as an artist? Do you have any samples online?

This isn't my band, but the following link is for my friends band. This is from a pretty harsh critic from the Washington Post, so the fact that he gave them a good review is awesome! He normally rips people/bands to shreds.... The drummer from this band and myself frequently jam together w/ both of us on guitars (one acoustic, one a w/ a tele). www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/01/05/AR2006010500655.htmlIn my biased opinion I think this band given the right publicity/exposure/support could make some noise....They re-hash a few things, but also mangage to keep their sound fresh and inventive.

Andrew, would absolutely love to hear what you've made... shoot me an email or a PM and we can sort something out about postage or something, I am sure. I'm moving to the US very soon so I'm sure we can come to some arrangement in terms of postage costs, etc etc... I've long wanted to hear your music though and by what you just posted, it sounds very interesting indeed!

Sent you an email, Scottsy.
Strat-O, I am looking to get signed. I do not have samples available yet, but when I get my website together I will.

If any one here is interesed, I can send them a copy of this cd....The band is going to do a series of small tours, so the more that can spread the word the better. Music is in need of a new revolution, a new underground movement...it's been a solid twenty years since the last truly great indie/DIY/punk/alternative movement (Replacements, Pixies, Fugazi, Bad Brains, Husker Du, Sonic Youth, REM, etc...).

Paul and Andrew: with your tunes into an electronic format, here are a couple of places to check out and place some of your tunes. It's free exposure and and helpful in pointing interested parties to your work. DNA is still hanging tough on the pop charts at Cornerband. www.cornerband.comgarageband.com

And for any guitfiddle learners out there, here is a diagram I drew up, actually for Jllm, a couple of years ago, I guess. It will be large, but It's supposed to be legible...

Heh, funny enough I need none of that as I play only keys, and at that all of my music was made on a software program. The future is here! Thanks for the cornerband plug, Strat. I have heard of that website. I was actually using a great Canadian streamline site before, but unfortunately the site has been dropped. It would be nice to have a temporary site to put my music but my own site would be much better and much more professional.
Paul, are you a guitar player? Do you have your own music available?

I try to play guitar...I'm not very good, but I like to jam w/ some friends now and then.... I have an acoustic guitar, and an American Standard Tele. Most of what I've learned I've taught myself, and I still have a long way to go.
But to answer your question, no I don't have any of my own music available. I should record some of my jams. In a previous post I mentioned that I jam w/ the drummer of the band I posted a link for regarding a review of his album....Anyway, our jams are very unstructured, and often quite sloppy, but there always are moments where we both get the groove and come up w/ some cool stuff. We've talked about doing some open mic nights and really fucking w/ all the people that do the same singer/songwriter/folky cover songs.
Oh, and strat-O, thanks for the diagram....I thought the penatonic scale was different though...or am I thinking minor penatonic?? See, I have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to guitar.... I have so much to learn.

Well, that's the Penatonic scale as I know it, anyhow. It's always worked for me! Btw, for any budding mandolin players out there, there are a bunch of chord charts, tuning, and scales for mandolin on page 6 of Musicians, Songwriters and Performers' Board 1 here. I'm just going to post some old pics and flyers to get this to roll over to the next page and get past the stretch. These are from my old band, the Mojos (for you newbies here that might not know). I'll try to put some up from my newer band next...
