No offence to anyone... but I can't stand this band... I will post no further on this topic than this particular post though, but ugghh, just seeing the name on the board prompted this one and only outburst...lol...
If I didn't like Kiss before, then I hate them even more by association with certain people I have come across in life... not you Shane or patten, by the way! :-) Another person whose actions have been below contempt, but to save the rant, I won't go on about it. It's just that he is a major Kiss fan, and that kills any chance I have of ever warming to them...
Carry on... I've said my bit...

hahahahahaha, no thanks, I'll pas if it's all the same... ughhh, you have no idea how much that band reminds me of s certain someone who should definitely be thought about as little as possible...
Without that tainting association, I might be more open... but alas, I can't just erase it!

When they came out, most of my buds and I dismissed them as not to be taken seriously. What made it even more silly was how they did seem to take themselves seriously. One of the first "formula" bands. I think they were the first to switch their instruments for cheap ones at the end of a show, to smash them up. "Come on, Ace, let's see you smash a real Les Paul!"
That said, they were onto something. And they did have some good tunes - Strutter, Black Diamond, etc., all easy enough that anyone could play them on guitar.

Just for the record, In the 60's Townshend used to have roadies collect the peices of his smashed guitars and glue them back together. He'd switch during the mayhem that usually came at the end of an 'oo set and smash guitars that had already been smashed.

I am officially onside with this thread, as long as we only discuss Kiss matters up to and including Dynasty era Kiss. Maybe even as far as Creatures of The Night. Silly? Absolutely. Gimmick laden? No question. Super cool for the first 6 studio and 2 live releases? Fuck yeah.
