The Noia 2.0 theme for Firefox looks great too. Nice cool colours, and easy on the eyes. I also downloaded the Pimpzilla theme. Funny stuff although it's just too bright and flashy for me. Had a good laugh with it though...

Newbie music-thief question! What is an ".rar" file? Often when I go to download a torrent I find 1 .rar file instead of individual mp3 files for the songs. Are all the mp3 files inside the one .rar file? I don't get it.

.RAR is just another type of compressed file, like .ZIP

Thanks fuzz. I suppose some kind of software is needed to decompress? Any suggestions?

WinRAR works pretty good, but that's the only one I've used.

Yeah, I just saw that over at download.com but it says it costs 30 bucks to buy. I'll just continue looking for non-compressed albums for now, until I can somehow get my hands on a free copy of winRAR. I don't think I need it for anything else.

I downloaded winRAR (registered) from a torrent site, so no need to pay the 30 bucks. btw, after my 2 weeks of experience downloading torrents, I gotta say btjunkie.org is the best torrent search engine, hands down. I've found stuff there I can't find anywhere else.

Check this out... Illegal downloaders targeted in new crackdownwww.nme.com/news/ipod/24768FTR, I think this 'story' is total BS, aimed at scaring people off from dowloading stuff illegally. Even the headline is incorrect. It says 'downloaders' are targeted, but if you read the actual article, it says 'uploaders' are the ones that are actually being targeted. I have to say though, that bit about the kid being forced by his mother to sell his car to pay the fine was a nice touch.

That it does.
I'm moving up this thread to announce that I can't find any Gumball albums anywhere (including LimeWire), and this is really beginning to piss me off.
That is all!

Screw Limewire. That thing is only good for finding individual songs, not albums. If you don't already have it, try emule. If you don't find anything there, you probably won't find it anywhere. I installed emule over the weekend after someone suggested it to me, and I gotta say, I'm impressed so far. I've found stuff there I haven't been able to find on any torrent sites. On the downside, the downloads are pretty slow, unless they're something new and popular.

Soulseek is what the discerning listener downloads when he wants to steal music. www.slsknet.orgAs for compressed files, any .rar, .zip, .ace or anything file can be decompressed with 7-zip. 7-zip is free and the best program of its kind on the internet.

I tried soulseek for a while, but since I got into bittorrent downloading, I haven't touched it since. Besides, that whole "just indie, not mainstream" 'rule' doesn't really apply. You probably stand a better chance of finding a Britney Spears album over at Soulseek than you would than anything even remotely obscure.
