They don't call it cock rock for nothing. Metal appeals to the primal urges in folks. It's big, dumb and makes you want to puch things...granted not all subgenres of metal are represented by this theory and that's probably why most chick metal fans are fans of goth and prog metal...genaral metal is a basic aggression, sort of as Layla pointed out, this aggression is a bonding point for many guys but the exact oppisite for many girls...
Anthrax has four or five "best of"s to choose from.

Is Metal inherently homosexual?
yes and no.
YES: sweaty men in leather? thats so gay. who don't really socialise with women? gay. who take their shirts off? GAY. who are insecure with their sexuality? gay. who are total dumbasses & generally animal in bed? gay. I can see a lot of denial fags being into metal, to try to prove their manliness but secretly wanting to have sex with Kirk Hammett & stroke his nice curly hair.
NO: I'm the biggest fag hag of all time & I didn't smell any gay meat in the metal scene in the times I choose to partake. i can't speak for all gay men, but just going on all the ones in my life, metal is too violent a scene for them & bitch, its just not glamorous enough. the whole "fags love techno & dance clubs" thing may be a stereotype, but its a stereotype for a reason.

Fags, like women, are way more likely to be goth. Its more sensuous, what with the velvet & PVC, S&M themed clubs etc

3. the look of metal is not the most attractive. ever notice that most metal chicks - besides the ones into cheesy 80s hair metal who look like Duff McKagan with tits (and they're mostly groupies/scenesters anyway) - are either a) fat b)ugly or c) fat and ugly?
LoLoLoL ...

There are women in Metal. On Lemmy's 25 and Alive DVD Doro teams up with Lemmy for Born To Raise Hell. He is also on her Call of The Wild CD, I believe Slash helped her out with that CD and a couple others if I am not mistaken. Doro Rules! It is a damn shame that Nightwish and Tarja parted ways, but I am sure a new singer will be found. And even if they didn't find a new female singer Marco could easily carry that band. \m/

Well there are actually more than 5, but most women aren't attracted to that form of music.

no one is saying that ALL of metal is gay. anyhow, we're talking about the fans not Lemmy or Nightwish (though 'tis a raging gay name).
but I'd do it. I tell everyone they're gay.

Revolver's newest issue has a metal's hottest ladies article. I simply can't beleive Doro didn't make the list.

Metal is gay but not in the buttfucking kind of way, it's the sports kinda of gay.

Well there are actually more than 5, but most women aren't attracted to that form of music. no, theres only 5. I read it in Hit Parader when I was 16. it said "there are five women in the metal scene". don't doubt Hit Parader. it was of even lower quality journalism than current NME.
