I really like about 2/3 of that Guillemots album. The rest I just can't listen to.

I really like it, but I will admit to it having some highly cheesy and annoying moments sprinkled through there.

Yeah, some of the melodrama gets a bit embarrassing, and some of the lyrics, yikes.
But the other 2/3 is pretty fucking awesome.

It's no Hitler Plays the Swastika Banjo Live! for sure.

Oh man.......that's just too weird!!!
I've heard the same complaint from a few people on the new TVOTR and I can understand. I loved their first EP but hated their debut album. This however I think is a different story and I hate to say it but I think it's a real gem.

It's no Hitler Plays the Swastika Banjo Live! for sure. Not much is. I'll keep mixing it into my rotation, see if it grows on me. I do kinda like "Wolf Like Me," though.

Not many people know this, but Hitler was a HUGE bluegrass geek.
And he had a wicked flatulence problem.

Man, now I have a picture of all of these nationalist front Black Metal kids, drinking bad vodka over a fire and farting on each other like Terence and Philip.

News to no one at this point, I'm sure, but this rates a mention. Elegant first single here.

That first single sounds like Jay singing. I don't think Sloan have ever released one of his songs as a lead single. It's about time. He;s been writing the best songs from their last two or three albums. Cool track. I knew this disc was coming, but I hadn't heard any tracks. Cheers Doc. 30 songs. Can't help but thinking in advance there should have been some editing.

I just realized I haven't bought anything in 06. I am content with my 05 finds still. Besides, nothing has motivated me. Although I do really like that new Christina song.

I actually don't mind the new Christina song. It's a bit slick, but she keeps the vocal gymnastics to a dull roar for once, which makes her pipes show through as a bit more legit for me. Probably the best single she's released to date imo.

I'd say that Christina's new single is her best, too. She's got a fine set of pipes, and she's learning how to use them.

Everyone I know seems to like the new Christina single. Gotta give her credit for trying something different. Oddly enough, it seems to be working. Who would've thought a cabaret-hiphop mix would actually work so well? Probably one of the best pop singles of the year so far...
